The integration of bees with #soybeans can significantly increase the productivity of the oilseed. 🌱🐝 📖 A new study by an agronomist from Embrapa suggests that average production can increase by 12.9%, with some producers achieving gains of up to 25%. In addition to increased yields, the document reveals that honey produced from this integration is more aromatic, smooth, and does not crystallize even at low temperatures. 🍯 According to the researcher, it is crucial for producers to follow integrated pest management recommendations on their farms. Increased pesticide applications can harm the pollinating insects, especially during the flowering period when bees visit soybean plants. Therefore, applications during this phase should be avoided. 🚫 #GlobalShipping #InternationalTrade #AgriExports #ShippingWorldwide #COMEX #LogisticaGlobal #LogisticaInternacional #TransporteDeCarga #Importacao #Exportacao #Commodities #Agribusiness

📰 DA expects record-high palay harvest this year despite El Niño 📰 "MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines may produce a record-high volume of palay or unmilled rice this year of almost 21 million metric tons (MT) despite threats of El Niño on local farms, estimates from the Department of Agriculture showed. The DA projected that palay output could reach 20.881 million MT this year, four percent more than the 20.059 million MT last year, based on its outlook as of March 21. [...] Agriculture officials have noted that the department’s timely water management interventions mitigated the ill effects of El Niño on rice farms." Read more: https://lnkd.in/g35897bN

WayCool Foods is actively encouraging #farmers to adopt #border #cropping as a strategic practice within its Cluster Development Program. By sowing the border crop 14 days before the main crop, it becomes well-established and effectively supports #pestcontrol. Join the Cluster Development Program - a 500+ farmer ecosystem. What is Border Cropping? Border cropping involves cultivating a minor crop around the main crop. This method is an effective #cultural strategy for reducing #pest populations naturally. Benefits of Border Cropping: * Reduced #Pesticide Use: Minimizes reliance on chemical pesticides. * Cost-Effective: Lowers the overall cost associated with pesticides. * Ecological Balance: Helps preserve indigenous natural enemies of pests. * Enhanced Crop Quality: Leads to better-quality produce. Examples of Effective Combinations: 1 Tomato - Maize 2 Bhendi - Field bean 3 Cabbage & Cauliflower - Mustard #bordercropping #pestattraction #pestcontrol #cropprotection #regenerativeagriculture #cdp

Soybeans have an interesting history in the Dominican Republic, with their last major commercial planting during the presidency of Rafael Trujillo (1930-1961). Trujillo’s government, known for its strong control over agriculture, pushed for modernization and the diversification of crops. Soybeans were part of this effort, aimed at improving food security and reducing dependence on imports. During his rule, the potential of soybeans as a versatile crop—used for both oil and protein-rich meal—was explored. However, after his regime ended, soybean production declined due to changes in farming priorities, economic instability in the 1960s, and inconsistent government support. Today, there’s growing interest in bringing soybeans back as the Dominican Republic seeks to modernize its farming practices again. With global demand for soybeans rising, thanks to their use in food, animal feed, and biofuel, this crop could once again play a big role in the country's agricultural economy. The Dominican Soybean Association's current push to reintroduce organic soybeans is a step in once again planting this crop commercially, opening the door to a new chapter in its history. #Soybeans #Agriculture #SustainableFarming #FoodSecurity #GlobalAgriculture #SoybeanHistory #ModernFarming #BiofuelProduction #SoybeanIndustry #AgricultureRevolution #FarmToFuture #DominicanRepublic

The preservation of oil crops is an essential practice in ensuring that harvested crops, such as soybeans, sunflower, palm oil, and others, retain their quality and nutritional value throughout storage and transportation. Proper handling, storage, and preservation methods can help minimize spoilage, extend shelf life, and protect the economic value of oil crops. #Oilpalm(Elaeisguineensis)

Hungary faces lowest pear harvest in a decade This year, Hungary is bracing for its lowest pear harvest in the last decade, according to data from the National Chamber of Agriculture (NAK) and the Hungarian Vegetable and Fruit Trade Organization (FruitVeB). The country has seen a continuous decline in pear cultivation area and production volume, with an even further reduction anticipated this year. Presently, pears are cultivated across 1,886 hectares, featuring numerous landscape varieties, yet the yield potential has been on a downtrend, exacerbated by the aging of orchards and deteriorating plant health. #grow🌱 #agriculture #supplychain #trade #exports #markets #commodities #pears🍐 #climate #hungary🇭🇺 #yields #consumers #imports #eu🇪🇺 #demand

Defra have released the industry response to their new proposed requirement on plants for planting. Their requirement states: "We proposed to introduce a requirement for all imports of plants for planting (excluding bulbs, corms, rhizomes, seeds, tubers, and plants in tissue culture) moving into Great Britain to have been grown on a registered nursery and have been inspected prior to export. This was to provide greater biosecurity assurances for these plants, that otherwise carried greater biosecurity risks as a result of being grown in the wild or not being inspected prior to export."
