#MethaneSteamReforming (SMR) Currently, the process responsible for most of the hydrogen produced industrially is steam methane reforming. The process incurs carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 7 kg of carbon dioxide per kg of hydrogen produced, and it is the source of nearly 3% of the global industrial sector's CO2 emissions. In steam methane reforming, the chemical energy stored in methane is converted to another chemical energy, hydrogen. The two main reactions that occur in steam methane reforming follow: CH4(g)+H2O(g)→CO(g)+3H2(g) CO(g)+H2O(g)→CO2(g)+H2(g) #SteamMethaneReforming #Hydrogenproduction
