❓ What stories can help policymakers tackle climate change even as its impacts spiral? ❓ If you're a storyteller and motivated by this question, our new Climate Policy Creative Fellowship might be for you... Many of the climate stories we tell fit into a binary narrative of 'win' or 'lose' 'We have 12 years to save the world' 'It's too late' Sometimes these stories are motivating Story structures like this - 'This is what could happen but there is still time to stop it!' - have driven action. But what happens next? Climate impacts are hitting faster and harder than anticipated. 1.5C could be breached within 10 years. Climate tipping points could be triggered. Things will get worse. But that doesn't mean we lost. It just means the context we face is changing. As climate risks spiral, there will be more fear. We'll rightly focus on responding to constant disasters. There will probably be anger at decision-makers as the scale of the risks becomes clear. Extremist politics could win big. These forces could distract from climate action, making the underlying situation worse. A vicious cycle. But it doesn't have to be this way. In response, we will need stories that manage these forces and keep our focus on climate action. And we need to help a particular community with those stories: policymakers. The stories they listen to and that they tell will be crucial to navigating the worsening climate storm. Think of the Covid-19 pandemic. Some policymakers told motivating stories of care, compassion, and community. Others didn't do so well... As the climate crisis escalates, we'll need bold, motivating stories, so that the consequences of the crisis don't get in the way of tackling its causes. If you're interested in creating those stories and having an impact on policy, we've got something for you... *** Applications are open for a brand new Climate Policy Creative Fellowship *** This experimental Fellowship will support creative storytellers to develop skills, knowledge and practice to help policymakers make better decisions about climate change. Click here to find out more and to apply: https://lnkd.in/ejyFWHCc Or contact me direct. The fellowship is run by UCL Climate Action Unit and Fast Familiar and is part of the Strategic Climate Risks Initiative, a new think and do tank

A large majority of Thais believe that addressing climate change requires international cooperation, aligning with global sentiment. While specific data on Thai perceptions of the main contributors to global warming suggest potential emphasis on ozone-depleting products, deforestation, agriculture/land use, and transport emissions. Climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time, with 2023 the warmest year on record globally. The food system not only contributes significantly to global GHG emissions, but it is also extremely vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. we know it is critical that we play our part and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our value chain, and we recognise the need to act fast. We have set ambitious emissions reduction targets approved by the (SBTi) and we are also members of the UN's Race to Zero campaign, committing to achieve net zero carbon emissions well before 2050. In 2023, we reduced our absolute emissions by 34.9% from our 2019 baseline, meaning we have exceeded our SBTi target to reduce our absolute emissions by 25% by 2025. We have also reduced our emissions intensity by 28.6% from our 2019 baseline, with a 6.3% reduction in 2023 compared to 2022. To find out more about all the work we are doing to reduce our emissions, please see our 2023 Sustainability Report here: https://lnkd.in/efKTgMEx #NomadFoods #Sustainability #GHG #RaceToZero #NetZero #ParisClimateAgreement #ClimateChange
