Some of us binge-watch holiday movies, others dive into family recipes, and some catch up with loved ones near and far. But no matter how we celebrate, it’s all about resetting for a fresh start in the new year. How do you recharge during the holidays? I usually do not post things. But this week was an exception to any ordinary week that I usually have. Started with a prep flight for a Gary Sinise Foundation Snowball Express which I enjoyed tremendously as a passenger helping the American Airlines volunteer crew decorate the plane for the upcoming special guests. I will never forget this moment and how it made me feel. To being on the hotel checkout line and guessing if I just attended a sleep apnea patient conference (I own a machine) instead of a comms workshop. My core experience was on my return flight. I was sitting next to this amicable person who started small talk with me and mentioned their fear of flying. I expressed my love for aviation and all dozens of people that make sure we have a safe flight. Off we went and long and behold the crew announced that we would be entering an area of weather ahead. The immediate physical reaction after the announcement was visible on my new friend, I went ahead and show my phone, as I was tracking the flight, our position, and the weather ahead of us. A few minutes later a quick announcement by the captain to explain the weather avoidance maneuvers that he was going to do, which I continued to explain and show both on my phone and outside the window. Few minor bumps later and we were in the clear and, fear levels went down. I got a heartfelt thanks after we landed and went our separate ways. All this is to emphasize the power of listening and education. Listening to another person’s story is key for providing the right information. From calming a nervous flyer, closing a sale or giving information to leaders to make critical decisions we are always educating people. Taking the time to listen and understand the other party allows us to effectively deliver the message, plus, we can learn a thing or two. Keep listening, keep educating, keep mentoring, keep learning. Throughout education is how legacies are made and left. Happy holidays!

December rolls in, we find ourselves in the final stretch of the year, and it’s the perfect time we can use to reflect, reset, and recharge. Reflect Instead of winding down, let’s make the most of this last month, reviewing goals, achievement and celebrating those wins. Reset This is also a fantastic time for learning. Pick that book you’ve been meaning to read, sign up for a course or workshop to sharpen your skills. Recharge Don’t forget to prioritize self-care in the hustles, take a moment for yourself, relax, and enjoy the festive season. Lastly, let’s wrap up the year with purpose and momentum, achievement, and joy. So, what’s on your to-do list before the year ends?
