"This year's global campaign for World Day Against Trafficking in Persons urges accelerated action to end child trafficking. The causes of child trafficking are as diverse as the ways in which children are exploited. Children are subjected to various forms of trafficking, including exploitation in forced labour, criminality or begging, trafficked for illegal adoption, recruitment into armed forces, and online and sexual abuse and exploitation." - United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime Read more about how to "leave no child behind in the fight against human trafficking" by clicking on the following link https://lnkd.in/dTAQG5vy.

Online sexual exploitation of children can feel like a problem that’s just too big to solve. But there is good reason for hope. IJM supported operations have helped Philippine authorities bring 1,181 victims and at-risk individuals to safety and apprehended 359 suspected perpetrators, with at least 202 of them already convicted. Though the problems in our world can sometimes feel too big for us to solve, these signs of progress are a reminder that things can’t just be fixed overnight. Lasting change happens one decision at a time, one person at a time, one dress at a time. I'm here to announce that all people can access the papers (Part 2) from the recent conference on "Preventing and Combating Online Child Sexual Exploitation and Abuse: Situation, Causes, and Solutions" (Vietnamese and English versions). So far, we all know that Vietnam is one of the countries with a strong legal framework for protecting child victims in this area, and the expertise shared by criminal professionals will undoubtedly enhance criminal procedures and social measures to support and safeguard children from sexual exploitation and abuse. Let's continue these discussions and work towards a safer future for children. P/s: Part 2 will begin at the page 298/538. #ChildProtection #OnlineSafety #CriminalLaw #AFP #PeoplePoliceUniversity

Human trafficking and exploitation 30 July marks World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, and so we use this opportunity to raise awareness about the evolving trends in human trafficking. In 2022, the EU reported 23 registered victims per million inhabitants, up from 16 in 2021. The form of exploitation of these trafficked persons is evolving over time as well, with the number of victims trafficked for labour exploitation matching those for sexual exploitation for the first time in 2022. ✏️Created by Mandy Spaltman.

This is such a heartbreaking documentary to watch. As for Uganda, the Police Annual Crime Report for 2023 revealed that out of 15,309 victims of sex-related crimes, 13,087 were females under the age of 18. A total of 12,771 cases of defilement were reported and of these, only 5,564 were taken to court, 2,402 were not proceeded with and 4,805 are still under inquiry. Out of the cases taken to court, 940 secured convictions, 38 were acquitted, 414 were dismissed, and 4,172 are still pending in court. A total of 5,671 suspects of defilement were arrested and charged to court, out of whom, 982 were convicted, 56 were acquitted, 400 were discharged and 4,233 were still awaiting trial. These are truly harrowing statistics that demand urgent attention. We MUST do more as a society to drive social behavioural change around sexual violence against girls and women, increase access to psychosocial services and deliver justice to victims. https://lnkd.in/dZQibpUF
