Last week, Safe Online participated in an event alongside Brave Movement and WeProtect Global Alliance to mark 100 days until the first-ever Violence Against Children Ministerial Conference in Colombia. This significant gathering aimed to raise awareness and drive action towards ending violence against children globally. During the event, the new documentary was launched, “#BeyondTheScreen: Hidden Voices of Online Abuse,” which sheds light on the critical issue of online abuse and the urgent need to create a safer digital environment for children. We encourage everyone to watch the documentary and join us in taking action to protect children from online harm 📽 https://lnkd.in/dAHu9_nA The documentary was followed by powerful discussions on strategies to combat sexual violence online and ensure a secure internet for all. Safe Online has joined hands with survivors and global child protection organisations to call upon key actors to prevent and end the sexual exploitation and abuse of children online and create a safer digital future for every child. What is needed to PREVENT human trafficking? Collective action to strengthen prevention at every level: individual, relational, community, and societal. Connecting the dots with societal issues (economic hardship, homelessness, conflicts, isolation, online safety, etc.) can disrupt exploitation. Building healthy relationships and strengthening the resilience of communities and organisations can protect against vulnerabilities leading to human trafficking. Our goal is to prevent sexual exploitation before it occurs. Prevention includes cross sector collaboration, including partnerships with individuals who have experienced trafficking. Together, we can strengthen our efforts to keep everyone safe. Taking a Stand Against Human Trafficking: On World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, we shed light on the impact of this crime. In 2022, 94% of victims of police-reported human trafficking were women and girls. It’s vital to emphasize that these statistics likely underestimate the true extent, as many cases go unreported. In the same year, 24% of victims of police-reported human trafficking were aged 17 and younger, 43% between 18-24, and 22% between 25-34. We are committed to supporting women and children while advocating for an end to trafficking for all genders and those impacted. At Jean Tweed Centre, we stand united in our dedication to supporting women and children affected by human trafficking. Today and every day, we lend our voice to this critical issue. Let’s work together to combat exploitation and empower survivors. #EndHumanTrafficking #EmpowerSurvivors

On National Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we are reminded of the power of collective action in the fight against human trafficking and child exploitation. This day is not just about awareness, but about translating that awareness into concrete efforts to dismantle the networks that perpetuate this evil. Together, through the unwavering commitment of organizations like the Tim Tebow Foundation, significant progress has been made — over 1,200 victims rescued, laws introduced to combat child sexual exploitation, and a global network of safe homes established for survivors. But the battle is far from over. Thousands of lives remain trapped, and every day presents an opportunity to act. We must continue to raise our voices, support legislation like the Renewed Hope Act of 2024, and work alongside law enforcement to identify perpetrators and protect vulnerable children. The more we stand united, the greater the impact we can have in eradicating human trafficking and ensuring freedom and justice for every victim. Will you be part of the solution? Together, we can bring more survivors home.

Today is National Human Trafficking Awareness Day. Will you turn awareness into action and help push back the evil of human trafficking? Together, thanks to our Tim Tebow Foundation giving family, we have been able to push back the evil of human trafficking and child exploitation by bringing freedom and justice to more survivors than ever before. In 2024… More than 1,200 victims of human trafficking and child exploitation were identified or rescued through our work with law enforcement and partners across the globe. We rallied bi-partisan congressional leaders to introduce the Renewed Hope Act of 2024 to fight child sexual exploitation and advocate for the 50,000+ unidentified child victims of sexual abuse and exploitation. Together, we expanded our global survivor care network to 43 safe homes and 17 more homes in progress across 10 countries. Through our work with law enforcement and partners, 8 operations were conducted, resulting in the identification of more offenders and the safeguarding of more hundreds of children. While we saw some incredible wins over the last year, there are still so many lives to get to. Join the Tim Tebow Foundation Rescue Team as a Defender today, and help bring long term freedom & justice to those trafficked and exploited: https://lnkd.in/eJ4NTJ6a

This #NationalChildProtectionWeek, the message is clear: Every child in every community needs a fair go, and every conversation matters. We proudly support #lawenforcement agencies across Australia in their #digitaltransformations, empowering them to better protect the vulnerable. One such amazing agency is the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE).💙 The ACCCE emphasises that conversations between children, caregivers, and communities are key to preventing child exploitation. Their work, uniting public, private, and civil sectors, is vital for #communitysafety. Did you know? Last financial year, reports of online child exploitation to the ACCCE increased by 45%. The ACCCE recorded a staggering 58,503 reports of online child abuse—that’s an average of 160 reports per day! 😢 Child abuse and exploitation are often misunderstood and surrounded by #stigma. However, opening up discussions can help break down these barriers to support victims and survivors, to make it harder for perpetrators to hide. During National Child Protection Week (and every week), we encourage the community to be aware of the risks our children may face and to do their part in preventing child sexual exploitation. ➡Join the conversation and visit the ACCCE’s website for a ton of valuable resources on how you can help stop the stigma and protect our children: https://lnkd.in/gsfpmYYK #eSafety #speakup #onlinesafety #communitysupport

Investing in Child Protection means investing in people - the global social service workforce (the social workers, the teachers, the child-friendly police officers and those working in juvenile justice, the health care professionals) that can prevent harm from happening and support children and families to recover and feel whole again when it does. Let's celebrate our incredible diverse workforce! Today at the 1st ever Ministerial Conference to End Violence Against Children, we are calling on governments to strengthen comprensive, sustainable and inclusive child protection systems to prevent and respond to All forms of violence to All children in All contexts. Global Social Service Workforce Alliance UNICEF World Vision #childprotection #SSW #EveryChildProtected #EndViolence
Each year, one billion children experience physical, emotional, and sexual abuse ⚠ The climate crisis, intensifying conflicts and the rapidly expanding digital environment are exposing children to even more risk of violence, especially the most vulnerable children❌ Children who experience violence not only experience immediate suffering and harm, they can also feel the effects for the rest of their lives. It affects their ability to develop, learn, grow and thrive as adults. Violence against children is intolerable. Every child should feel safe at home, at school and in their communities ❤️ But thankfully, violence against children is preventable, and we have solutions that work. Building robust child protection systems are one of the best ways to protect children. They connect children to vital social services – starting when they're born and throughout their childhood. That's why at the first-ever Ministerial Conference on Ending Violence Against Children taking place today and tomorrow in Colombia, we're calling on governments to strengthen comprehensive, sustainable and inclusive national child protection systems that prevent and respond to ALL forms of violence, abuse, exploitation and neglect. Meet the people keeping children safe ➡ https://lnkd.in/efFWZQAa #EVAC #InOurHands #EveryChildProtected #ChildProtection
