🎃 People love getting into the Halloween spirit, but setting some decorating boundaries as a landlord is important. Here’s how to keep your property in top shape while tenants celebrate: 1️⃣Ask tenants to avoid using heavy adhesives or nails on walls that could damage paint or siding. 2️⃣ Encourage tenants to avoid blocking entrances or walkways with large decorations that could cause trips or falls. 3️⃣ Suggest using battery-operated candles in pumpkins to avoid fire risks. As you settle in for a peaceful night’s sleep or head out to enjoy the holiday festivities, don’t forget to switch off your Christmas tree lights and decorations. While they add a magical glow to your home, leaving them unattended can increase the risk of a fire—especially when you're not around to keep an eye on them 🎄 By simply turning off your lights and decorations before bed, you’re reducing the chances of any potential fire hazards. It’s a small step that can make a big difference in keeping your home safe and secure. Whether it’s fairy lights on your tree, mantelpiece, or outdoor decorations, ensure they’re off before you leave the house or turn in for the night. Make safety a priority this Christmas so you can enjoy the season with peace of mind! 🛏️🎁 #EMCElectrical #ChristmasSafety #FirePrevention #SwitchOff #HolidaySafety #ElectricalSafety #SafeAndBrightHolidays

The Fourth of July is a time for celebration, fireworks, and family gatherings, but it’s essential to prioritize safety to ensure that everyone has a fun and secure holiday. Here are some tips to help you stay safe during your festivities! 1. Firework Safety: Fireworks are a staple of Independence Day, but they can be dangerous if not handled properly. Only use fireworks that are legal in your area and follow the manufacturer’s instructions closely. Always have a bucket of water or a hose nearby in case of a fire, and never relight a dud firework. It’s also crucial to keep a safe distance from the fireworks and ensure that spectators are at a safe distance as well. 2. Grill with Care: Barbecue is another popular activity on the Fourth of July. When using a grill, make sure it’s set up in a well-ventilated area away from any flammable materials such as trees or decorations. Never leave the grill unattended and keep children and pets at a safe distance. Ensure that you have a fire extinguisher or a bucket of sand nearby in case of flare-ups, and always check the gas line for leaks before using a gas grill. 3. Stay Hydrated and Sun Safe: With outdoor activities, it’s easy to forget the basics of sun and heat safety, Drink plenty of water and electrolytes throughout the day to stay hydrated. Apply sunscreen with a high SPF and reapply it every two hours, or more frequently if you’re swimming or sweating. Wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your face and eyes, and try to stay in the shade during the peak sun hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. I hope that everyone has a safe and enjoyable Fourth of July! - Gene York HSE Director
