So, The Game Fair didn’t work out quite how we hoped this year! A mix up meant there wasn’t space for our stand, so after a five plus hour wait, we went home… and then went to the Isle of Wight for the weekend. We’re disappointed, but we hope we’re able to go next year and see what all the fuss is about! With a bigger and better stand. When we do get to exhibit at the horse and countryside events, we get asked the same question a lot: ‘why are you here?’ It’s true that at first glance, we don’t fit in. Among stands selling wellies, tweed, rider clothing, gin, brownies and coats, there’s an IT company! We are different and we do stand out but that’s ok – but that’s kind of the point! The team and I know that our services can help everyone and that there are real humans behind the website and social media accounts, and events are our way of demonstrating that to the public. Business is about standing out, being different to your competitors and I always said Black Nova would do things differently and we do. Whether that’s being an IT company that actually answers the phone and offers speedy response times or being at an event with the trade stand. #itsupport #peoplebehindthebrand #tradestand

Nostalgia campaigns are more than a trip down memory lane; it’s a powerful way to stay culturally relevant when done authentically. It’s about giving a gift and being community-minded first. Ore-Ida (tater tots) has given millennials and Napoleon Dynamite fans a sweet video this week. Their new campaign features Jon Heder reprising his role as Napoleon, complete with his iconic Moon Boots and a new pair of pants with a Tot Crush-Proof pocket. This campaign is steeped in nostalgia, thanks to Kraft Heinz in-house agency, The Kitchen North America, and the stakeholders at Ore-Ida who greenlit this idea. https://lnkd.in/gNUhuYxV I want to personally thank everyone who made this happen, including Aaron Ruell (Kip Dynamite) for directing it. Seeing the new spots felt like reconnecting with an old high school friend. I remember the trailers for Napoleon Dynamite on MTV and experiencing that unique, awkwardly beautiful style of humor for the first time. I hope this campaign sells a lot of tots and fuels more creative work. At Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity this week, McDonald's CFO Ian Borden spoke about the positive outcomes (revenue) when McDonald's immerses itself in culture. My take is that contributing to culture authentically benefits both brands and collaborators. Warning: Boston Specific Attn: First Championship parade Restaurant and Bar operations teams From the desk of a 10 parade veteran It may not be too late to adjust your plan. If you are on the parade route: You will probably be busy with folks before the parade, then you will be dead once the duck boats are in sight and a mad rush after the boats are no longer visible. Many of these people just want a restroom and water, how you choose to deal with that is important. Parade day they may be a nuisance but the rest of the year they or their connections are your guests have a plan let your team know what that plan is but be prepared to adapt. If you are not on the parade route but are on a pedestrian route near a T stop or on the way to or from one: You too will have to deal with the post-parade traffic at what could be an odd time for your team, you may fill up with folks looking to have a "light lunch" and watch the parade on the TV's if you have them. Those folks may linger and have an extra beverage or two. Be prepared for an odd flow of traffic through the day as folks tire of being in the sun and start to head back to their home turf. Have a plan for how the day shift team will deal with folks who have had one too many Gansetts, this is something they may not have the experience that your night side team has.
