If you have a WordPress site, knowing its version is essential. Why? Older WordPress sites are particularly vulnerable to hackers and bugs. Checking your current WordPress version is easier than you think. Here are 5 different methods: #1 Admin Dashboard Simply log in and glance at the 'At a Glance' section or click on the WordPress logo and select 'About WordPress' to see the version. #2 Page Source Right-click on any page, select 'View Page Source,' and search for the 'generator' tag. #3 RSS Feed Add '/feed' to a site's URL and search for the 'generator' tag in the source code. #4 Version.php File Access your site's files via FTP, navigate to 'wp-includes,' and open 'version.php' to find your version number. #5 WP-CLI Use WP-CLI to check the version via the command line. If you are using an older version, Here’s how to upgrade in 3 easy steps: 1. Firstly, back up your database and files—this is non-negotiable. 2. In the admin dashboard, locate the 'At a Glance' widget and click 'Update to WordPress 6.5.’ 3. Hit that update button and follow the prompts. Your site will be updated in less than a minute. Easy, right? With updates rolling out frequently,  it may feel like a chore to keep up with the latest updates,  but these updates protect your site from performance issues.
