Helping students craft compelling extracurricular activity descriptions is crucial for college applications. Here are some tips to share with your students: Encourage them to reflect on their passions and long-term commitments. Activities that showcase dedication over time stand out. Guide students to highlight growth, leadership roles, and tangible impact. Quantifiable results or specific examples add depth to their experiences. Emphasize the importance of concise, action-oriented language. Every word counts in limited character spaces. Remind them to seek feedback from peers, teachers, or mentors. Fresh perspectives can uncover overlooked achievements. Stress the value of revising and refining. The best descriptions often come after several drafts. #CollegeAdmissions #StudentSuccess #HigherEd #CollegeApplications #College

First Day of School 🎓 As the new school year begins, I find myself reflecting on the time I had the privilege of working as a teacher. Being a teacher taught me so much about leadership, patience, and the power of connection. It wasn’t just about delivering lessons; it was about creating an environment where every student felt seen, heard, and inspired to reach their full potential. The first day of school was the starting line for all of that—a moment to set the tone, build relationships, and ignite curiosity. As I move forward in my career, I carry with me the lessons learned from those first days of school. The importance of preparation, the value of empathy, and the joy of witnessing growth are all experiences that continue to influence my professional journey. To all the teachers and students out there starting a new year, I wish you a year filled with discovery, resilience, and success. Remember, the impact you make today will resonate for years to come. P.S: I'm in 1st grade #FirstDayOfSchool #TeachingExperience #Education #Leadership #GrowthMindset

🎓 Make Yourself Irreplaceable in Your Career In any profession, but especially in education, our impact goes far beyond our own success—it shapes the futures of others. To truly stand out, you must give your 101% every single day. Dedication, passion, and a relentless drive to improve aren’t just nice-to-haves—they’re essential. Why? Because your career doesn’t just define you. It empowers others to build theirs. As educators, we don’t just teach; we inspire, mentor, and guide. The knowledge, skills, and encouragement we provide become the foundation of someone else’s achievements. That’s a responsibility we can’t take lightly. So, strive for excellence. Be the teacher, the leader, or the professional others can’t imagine replacing. Not because of job security, but because the world needs what only you can offer. I did my all time favourite job yet again today! Interacted with students! and guess what? The energy in the room was electrifying! Their enthusiasm and curiosity were contagious. Their drive, and hunger for knowledge constantly remind me why I love teaching. After the session, one student came up to me and said, "I want to be like you. How can I become confident during my three years of college?" I smiled and told her, "The fact that you have the will to do it means your job is already half done. Confidence comes from persistence, embracing challenges, and not being afraid to fail. With that attitude, you are already on the right path!" Every time I step onto that podium, I am reminded of the power of education and how it can shape futures. It is not just about imparting knowledge, it is about nurturing the potential in every student and helping them believe in themselves. Here is to more conversations, more growth, and more future leaders in the making! #teachingwithpassion #inspiringminds #confidencebuilding #makinganimpact #powerofeducation #futureleaders #du #professor

Reflecting on my years as a class teacher, I've learned 4 invaluable lessons that have shaped my leadership style and teaching approach: 🌟 Leadership and Growth: Encouraging growth benefits both students and staff, fostering a supportive environment and bringing out the best in everyone. 📚 Continuous Learning: Teaching is a reciprocal journey that enhances understanding of the world, emphasizing the importance of persuasion, clarity, and trust in relationships. 🌱 Empowerment and Potential: Every child deserves to thrive. As educators, our role is to guide them towards realizing their limitless potential. 💡 Embracing Mistakes and Courage: Mistakes are not failures; they are opportunities for growth and learning. . By embracing uncertainty and learning from every experience, you will unlock your true potential and achieve great things. Lastly, I am reminded that it is always my responsibility to chase my dreams—they won't chase me back. 😊 #Careerlessons #StudentSuccess #Leadership #Empowerment #classroomlessons

Shawn Kunungo has been promoting the idea that "play is a greater catalyst for change than purpose." (link in the comments) I play at the education table, and Shawn has me wondering whether well designed play experiments could replace purpose-driven outcomes. The point would be to make play the catalyst for lesson design. Doing so would mean changing our fundamental assumptions and expectations about what curriculum documents are meant to do. I think Shawn is right, and if you are in a leadership role where you get to change assumptions and make new realities, let's chat. #Education #Leadership #Innovation #Learning #Teaching #AIEd #curriculum #superintendents #principals

When I am asked what's one important thing people overlook in building a successful career, my response is simple and straightforward: good mentors. A good mentor is someone senior than you in the profession who wants best for you and is willing to take the time to show you the ropes. I have been fortunate to have good mentors throughout my career, especially during my PhD at Trulaske College of Business | University of Missouri. I am always surprised at the number of people who don't understand or appreciate the importance of a good mentor. For my friends in academia who are PhD scholars or junior faculty, I cannot emphasize enough the importance of finding a good advisor whose advice you trust and value. Good mentors don't just give you good career advice and socioemotional support, they also tell you about things - big and small - you need to change or improve in yourself. If you don't have a good mentor, it is worth finding one. #leadership #mentor #advice #guidance #academiccareer

Social-emotional learning (SEL) is a powerful approach that equips students with the skills they need to thrive in school, life, and beyond. 🌈 Picture a student who can stay focused during a challenging project, manage their emotions effectively, and avoid impulsive decisions. They become responsible individuals who make choices that benefit themselves and their communities.🎗 Students who develop these skills are better equipped to handle challenges, build resilience, and become strong leaders. They're more likely to succeed in their academic pursuits, future careers, and personal lives. ✨ #SocialEmotionalLearning #SEL #Teaching #Education #StudentSuccess #Resilience #Leadership #PositiveClassroom #Wellbeing
