The F-117 Nighthawk: Stealth Isn't Invincible On March 27, 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, a seemingly impossible event occurred. A Yugoslav air defense unit using an older Soviet-era missile system managed to shoot down a USAF F-117 Nighthawk, the world's first operational stealth aircraft. This event sent shockwaves through the military world. Here was a plane designed to be practically invisible to radar, brought down by what many considered outdated technology. What are your thoughts on this event? Did it redefine how we think about stealth technology? Were there tactical mistakes made by the US Air Force? How have advancements in air defense impacted the role of stealth aircraft? Let's discuss in the comments! #aviation #militaryhistory #stealth #technology #F117 #Yugoslavia #NATO #airforce P.S.
