🌟 Is spending one's Saturday learning about local activism a good investment? YES, YES, A THOUSAND TIMES YES! Today's #RestlessBrussels Bootcamp was a whirlwind of insights, food for thought & inspiration! 🚀 We kicked off with Katarzyna Kowalewska's deep dive into the essence of community building. Starting with defining our "why" à la Simon Sinek, we learned to envision our ideal members & craft our BIG purpose. The importance of nurturing deep bonds and relationships in the community cannot be overstated. 💡 Kadri Soova from 'Heroes for Zero' shared invaluable lessons on organizing impactful movements. From harnessing the power of media to embracing chaos, Kadri's insights illuminated the path toward meaningful change. Notably, her 10 lessons underscored the importance of authenticity, shared power & embracing diverse perspectives. 📱 Tom Moylan's 'Social Media for Local Activism' session was a goldmine of tactics to amplify our voices. From defining objectives to tailoring content for different audiences, Tom's expertise empowered us to leverage social media as a catalyst for community engagement & action. 🛠️ Harold Habousha's 'Advocacy and Lobbying' deep dive shed light on the power of collective action and navigating official channels effectively. His toolbox for advocacy equipped us with actionable strategies to address local issues & drive positive change in our communities. 📰 Lastly, Jasmijn Post's session into media relations provided invaluable insights into crafting compelling narratives & fostering relationships with journalists. The emphasis on finding the right news angle and medium resonated deeply with our shared mission to raise awareness regarding community issues & drive impact. 😊 Many thanks to Alessandra Cardaci, Tom Moylan, Adriano Rodari & the rest of the #RestlessBrussels team for organising such an excellent bootcamp! Looking forward to your next event! 👉 https://restless.brussels/ #CommunityBuilding #LocalActivism #ChangeMakers

✨ Shine through your belief system. A few years ago, Caroline Andrewes, P.Eng, CPA, CMA sat down with me to discuss how important activism is in her personal and professional life. It was rooted in how she grew up. If there is an opportunity and ability to offer service to your community, then it's a privilege to do so. Watch this short video with Caroline to learn why and how to shine through activism.
