Male representation is essential in the MMIW movement because it fosters a sense of shared responsibility and unites communities in the fight against violence. When men advocate for change, it challenges the structures that enable violence and demonstrates that this is not solely a women’s issue—it’s a human issue. Men’s involvement can help break cycles of violence, create safer spaces, and inspire other men to take action. By standing together, men and women can work to dismantle harmful stereotypes, uplift Indigenous voices, and ensure that future generations live in a world where justice and equality prevail. It’s time for all of us to take an active role in the movement. Indigenous Model: @thelittlenativethatcould Maya & llocano To support content like this, please consider a donation of any amount. 🏳️🌈 Today is the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia I'm an ally, but I'm fully aware I can/should do more. Reading Édouard Louis and knowing I'm one is simply not enough, especially when people who just want to live their lives in peace are under attack. If you are in the same situation, this is recommended to do: - Educate yourself: take the time to learn about the issues facing the LGBTQIA+ community and understand the significance of the International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia. This will help you be more effective in your support. - Make use of the resources you have: As an ally, you can make use of the opportunities you have to amplify the voices of LGBTQIA+ people and raise awareness of the issues they still face. Find more information, data, and insights. - Take action: show your support and be an ally to the LGBTQIA+ community. This could involve speaking out against discrimination, providing a safe and inclusive space, or simply listening to and supporting LGBTQIA+ friends and colleagues. - Attend an event: consider joining an event in solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. Consider volunteering your time or skills to help these organisations achieve their goals. - Donate: consider donating to organisations that work to support LGBTQIA+ individuals and promote their rights. This can help fund important programs and services that support the well-being of LGBTQIA+ individuals. - Commit beyond the day: remember that being an ally is an ongoing process, and it's important to continually educate yourself and engage in meaningful ways to support LGBTQIA+ communities around the world. - Vote: The European Parliament declared the European Union an ‘‘LGBTIQ Freedom Zone’’ back in 2021. #useyourvote during the upcoming EU elections (6-9 June) only to those willing to fight against hate and bigotry. Any other suggestions? #IDAHOBIT

Girls deserve protection! Neither FGM nor child marriage exist in a vacuum. In this region they are both driven by identifiable factors, one of which is gender inequality. We must listen, learn and take action to make measurable change. Ending this gender-based violence means rejecting destructive norms that only conserve and continue these practices. Protecting girls means ENDING FGM! Help us achieve that. Please consider donating: https://lnkd.in/dw8eMpjM

Did you know? The already stark #GenderPayGap is further compounded by the #RacialWageGap - meaning that women of color must work much longer into 2024 to earn what a white, non-Hispanic man earned in 2023. Why? Long legacies of deeply entrenched gender and racial discrimination. Help us break down systemic barriers by registering and voting in the upcoming general election. Am I making you uncomfortable with my posts about #ViolenceAgainstWomen? I’m not sorry. I am a woman who wants every woman, everywhere, to be safe—always. And right now, we are not. Femicide is a global crisis. Every day, over 140 women are killed by a partner or family member. Most women and girls are killed intentionally by someone they know. Imagine that—the people we are told to trust most are the greatest threat to our lives. Some groups of women face an even higher risk: Indigenous women, transgender women, women in the public eye, and those who dare to defend human rights. But here’s the truth: the actual scale of femicide is much higher than what’s reported. Too many lives are erased, uncounted, and ignored. The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is not just a campaign; it is a call to action. There is #NoExcuse for femicide. It is preventable. But prevention demands that we confront the systems, mindsets, and cultures that allow violence against women to persist. If you’re feeling uncomfortable, good. Discomfort is where awareness begins. And awareness leads to action. I’m taking action to raise much needed funds. The UN Secretary-General launched the UNiTE by 2030 campaign in 2008 to end violence against women. Its signature colour, orange, symbolises a hopeful future free from such violence. Each year, the campaign aligns with the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, running from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women) to 10 December (Human Rights Day). During this period, UNiTE encourages everyone to wear orange and take action to end violence against women and girls—whether at home, in public spaces, schools, workplaces, or during times of conflict and peace. The 16 Days of Activism are important because they shine a spotlight on the long standing issue of violence against women. They are a moment to create public awareness about what needs to change to prevent it from happening in the first place at local, national, regional and international levels. Please stay tuned to our content during this period as we share more about gender-based violence, its impact, and how we can work together to make lasting change. #BerthasLegacy #16days #16daysofactivism #GBV #SupportSurvivors #WomenRights #Charity

Leading the Trans Justice Project has been such an incredible privilege. It has allowed me to connect with so many trans people, given me the opportunity to invest in trans staff members, and make a real difference for our community. The support we have received over the last year has allowed us to do ground-breaking work to build the movement for trans justice in Australia. We released the largest investigation into anti-trans hate in Australia, hosted one of the largest gatherings of trans and gender diverse campaigners ever, and helped to lead the Australian response to the flawed Cass Review - eventually resulting in it being rejected by the peak body for psychiatry in Australia! We have exciting plans for the year ahead. In the lead up to the next Federal election we will train a new generation of trans advocates, launch local action groups, and work to ensure that all our leaders support trans and gender diverse people’s right to freedom, justice, and equality. But we need your help to make these plans a reality. That’s why I am asking people to support our EOFY crowdfunder to allow our work to continue in the year ahead. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, all donations for the next 48hrs will be matched up to $5000. That means that your donation will have double the impact for this short window of time! We rely almost entirely on donations from supporters to fund our vital work so that we can remain independent, purpose-driven, and effective. However, this is challenging since trans and gender diverse people are 3x more likely to experience unemployment and homelessness than the general population. There is a huge role for allies to play here in funding this urgent work that is connected to so many other struggles for justice. I know times are tough so whatever you can contribute is greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps. If you are not in a place to donate please help boost this post so I can reach more people. 🏳️⚧️✊🌈❤️🔥 https://lnkd.in/gkADCag8
