🚨New Publication🚨 Interested in strengthening #healthsystems and/or #patientsafety in Nigeria or further afield? Drawing on the framework of health system building blocks by the World Health Organization, we examined what drives medical negligence. We found problems in all six health system building blocks. The study proposes interventions to tackle medical negligence should take a systemic, not individual, approach. We suggest what a systemic approach entails. The 12th session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Body (INB) marked significant progress toward a global pandemic accord. 🌍🩺 While no breakthrough was reached, it was decided there would be no special session of the World Health Assembly in December 2024, with negotiations aiming for completion by May 2025. Key achievements include: 1. Research & Development: Agreement on improving access to publicly funded research and ensuring transparency in clinical trials. 2. Local Production: A commitment to strengthening local health product manufacturing in developing countries. 3. Regulatory Systems: Progress in expediting regulatory processes for quicker access to vaccines and treatments in developing nations. Though contentious issues remain, including the Pathogen Access and Benefit Sharing (PABS) mechanism, prevention and One Health the path forward is clearer. The next negotiation round in December 2024 will be critical in reaching a final agreement. #PandemicAccord #GlobalHealth #OneHealth #Multilateralism Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung World Health Organization Read the full report here: 👇
