As Americans exit Thanksgiving weekend and we all enter December, it seems an appropriate time to ask: What matters MOST? 🧐 💼 In business, this is a great time to look back at how your business changed, the metrics you thought you’d move vs. actual performance, the projects you did and did not execute - and why your team believes your business has changed the way that it has. What was within your control, or outside of it? The most strategic teams will go beyond the typical year-end book-closing and thoughtfully create space to truly debrief about the year, using the exercise to build a foundation of understanding upon which they can build plans for 2025. Support your team in creating the space for this by cutting out any tasks or projects that don’t have to get done by the end of the year. ✂️ When facilitated with openness and an emphasis on celebrating both what did work and the lessons that can be learned from what didn’t, this can also help the team to feel supported and connected to each other and their work during a stressful, if often critical, time. 🥹 💗 In personal lives, it’s worth creating some space amongst the chaos of the season to similarly reflect on what has happened in your life in the last year, and how you have grown. Focus on gratitudes and accomplishments. What did you do for yourself and others that made your world a better place? What blessings and gifts have come your way and what has that taught you about your communities and yourself? Who are you glad is or has been in your life? What boundaries have you established or maintained that helped you focus your attention where it matters most? 🙏 Though many grapple with complex interpersonal dynamics that can feel especially intense during the holidays, this reflection can help you ground in what is meaningful to you and how you best cultivate that. We can all always do better, but it’s important to also remind ourselves that we are generally all doing the best we can with the resources and capacity that we have. 🥰

Merry Christmas! Christmas – a time of contrasts. Where else do calm reflection and complete chaos come together so perfectly? For me, it’s not just the moment to catch my breath at the end of the year. It’s also a time for reflection. I often wonder: Was the year really that short, or was it simply too full? 2024 was certainly a year of everything: highs and lows, successes and challenges. But as so often, it’s not just about reaching the goal; it’s about the journey – the decisions we make, the small steps we take, and the perseverance we show when the going gets tough. Fortunately, I had an incredible team by my side. Thank you to everyone who pulled together, supported each other, or occasionally sparked a little creative chaos. Without you, the journey would have been half as exciting! Now it’s time to recharge the batteries. Cookies and family time instead of meetings and strategies. Let’s refuel – because the new year is already around the corner, and one thing’s for sure: It won’t be boring. With that in mind: Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a restful holiday season.
