One of the concerns I hear most from faculty is that their learners cannot tolerate liminality or discomfort, which is necessary for their growth. While it is essential to be clear in many ways- our assignments, expectations, and engagement in the classroom, discomfort is crucial to learning and growth. Here is a lovely piece from Mays Imad. Dear all Attention is the most valuable, more precious than diamond, rquirement sought by everyone these days. That is why social media is flooded with posts for validations and appreciations. This is happening across all the age groups. From kids to adults, all need attention. But here, we need to understand that anything in excess poses threat to our mind and body. Children are the building blocks of a nation and can be moulded easily like clay with love and care. According to me, ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is just a valuable attention requirement request by our little children from us. By giving them our time, love and care, this deficiency can be cured or rather void can be filled. Just like balanced nutrients help in maintaining good health, similarly, understanding the balanced needs required as nutrients for our children create a balanced ecosystem for them to live happily, joyfully and vibrantly. First and foremost, this is an attention requirement flag raised by our children to us and not a sympathy gaining request. They just need our love and attention. That's it. Various joyful and memorable classroom techniques have been tried and tested to curb this ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) in children so that their energies can be channelised in a proper way, without hampering their present innocent existence. Giving them their favourite task gives them a sense of ownership and enhances their self-esteem. You needn't label them, just handle them with love and give them your attention and make them feel loved and valued. Love is miraculous as it has life!
