8th of March was International Women's Day. The Global North has expensive breakfasts & other talk fests. My view is women's flourishing in tourism comes from a community-centred focus and practice rather than uplifting individuals. I recently revisited this interview I did a few years back and I still think it makes sense. #sustainabletourism #genderintourism #community #justice https://lnkd.in/g_VkffxT

Catch IWRAW Asia Pacific at the Asia Pacific Feminist Forum 2024 in Chiang Mai! What does it take to be a “good” feminist today? Is a good feminist an antagonist to good citizenship? One of the most deeply internalised tropes against feminists and the women’s rights movement is to position them as people against family values, culture, and tradition, development and growth, and ultimately against their fellow citizens and the nation. This workshop calls for feminists to build perspective and strategise toward a vision of inclusive and feminist citizenship and nation-building. We will delve into these two critical questions while dreaming and strategising what a feminist idea of participation, citizenship, and nation-building would look like. About the Women Gaining Ground consortium: Women Gaining Ground (WGG) is a Global South-led consortium comprising CREA, Akili Dada, and IWRAW Asia Pacific that is being implemented as a cross-country, cross-movement in Bangladesh, India, Kenya, Rwanda, and Uganda, with cooperation from fifteen implementing country partners. Our work aims to prevent gender-based violence (GBV) and strengthen women's leadership and political participation. We concentrate on enhancing the capabilities and transformative leadership of young women, girls, and women with disabilities. Register for the session: https://lnkd.in/guRcpKfr
