#BCAW2024 - Children are disproportionately impacted by the climate crisis 🌍🌡️ Today, one billion children — nearly half the world’s children — live in 33 countries that are at “extremely high risk.” Children are physically and physiologically more vulnerable to climate and environmental shocks than adults. 🍃♻️🏞️💚🌱 In the coming months, governments are expected to submit new national climate plans ➡️ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3.0). ➡️ Children’s needs must be at the center of these plans, as they will set the course for climate action over the next decade. Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in COP28, a platform that brings together global leaders, activists, and changemakers to address the pressing issue of climate change. This experience was particularly meaningful for me as I was able to advocate for young Somali children who are disproportionately affected by the impacts of climate change. As climate-related challenges such as droughts, floods, and food insecurity continue to threaten the future of our children, it is crucial that their voices are heard on the global stage. I am deeply committed to amplifying these voices and ensuring that the unique challenges faced by Somali youth are addressed in international climate discussions. The journey is far from over, but I am inspired by the collective will to create a better, more sustainable future for all. Let us continue to push for action, innovate solutions, and, most importantly, ensure that no child is left behind in the fight against climate change. #ClimateAction #COP28 #Somalichildren #Sustainability #Advocacy #ClimateJustice
