Reflecting on a challenging chapter in my career… I’d spent two years dedicated to my last company, immersing myself in two major projects, learning the business inside out, and building strong relationships along the way. I was excited when I was recommended by the Managing Director for a new project—it felt like an acknowledgment of my experience and contribution. But things didn’t go as expected. Within weeks, I found myself feeling undervalued and unappreciated, and the way I was treated by the contracted project manager left me feeling like a fresh graduate rather than a seasoned professional. After 30 years in corporate, I’d never experienced anything like it. For the first time, I was questioning my worth and feeling my confidence erode. After 8 weeks, my mental health was suffering, and I knew I needed to step away. My husband encouraged me to prioritize my well-being, so I informed the project manager and HR that I didn’t feel set up for success and that I felt ‘it was better for the long term success of the project’ that I step away. Unfortunately, a month later I was made redundant and I believe that choice contributed to this outcome. It felt like everything I’d invested—years of experience, learning, and relationships—was reduced to nothing. It took a huge toll on me. Thankfully what helped me move forward was the personal and professional development work I’d done throughout my career and business. These experiences, along with a single reach-out from an old friend about a potential role, were crucial in helping me rebuild my confidence and reignite my belief in my own abilities. I am incredibly grateful to the people at Bapcor for their belief in me and for investing in my potential. Thank you for reminding me of my value and helping me rediscover my confidence. To anyone who may feel undervalued, know that your worth is not defined by one role or one person’s opinion. Surround yourself with people who see your true potential and hold on to your belief in yourself. 🌟 #CareerJourney #Resilience #MentalHealth #ProfessionalGrowth #CorporateExperience

Years of experience Vs Years in service I've come to realize that in corporate organizations and based on my findings, there is a significant difference between years of experience and the number of years in service. The number of years someone spends at a job doesn't necessarily equate to meaningful growth or expertise. True experience is built by consistently seeking opportunities to learn, embracing challenges, and applying new knowledge in ways that add value. Years in service can simply reflect time spent, but experience is about how you use that time to sharpen your skills, solve problems, and contribute to the organization's goals. It's about being proactive, adaptable, and continuously pushing beyond your comfort zone. For those who truly wish to develop and excel in their careers, it’s important to focus not just on clocking time, but on making each year count by gaining tangible skills and insights. The difference lies in mindset—one that seeks growth rather than settling for routine. In this way, real experience transforms you into a valuable asset, both for the organization and for your personal development. #selfdevelopment #skillacquisition #contributiontoorganisationalgrowth #careerdevelopment #selfmotivation #workwithpassion

Hey connections👋, A small message from my side💬 Starting my journey 💫👣 in the corporate world as a fresh graduate, I've faced many insecurities. It's been a challenging transition, and I know many others are going through the same. Like *Physical appearance comparisons, *Communication barriers, *Feeling less knowledgeable, *a Lack of Confidence, and *Loneliness ...are just a few of the insecurities I've encountered. I sometimes think these people will never be my friends. But I realize now that everyone experiences these struggles when making the leap from college to the corporate world 100....! The First Six Months in this new environment are crucial learning periods for both personal and professional growth. Don't be discouraged by these feelings. Understand that everyone you see is on a similar path, working hard and gaining experience. It's very important to balance hard work with smart work, and to carve out personal time for your loved ones. After all, true happiness comes from these personal connections, not just from professional achievements. Take care of your health, and always be open to learning new things. There will be times when you feel like giving up, but don't. I know I'm not highly experienced, but I'm learning from my experienced colleagues. I want to share this with others who are in the same stage of life. Be kind to yourself, learn from your mistakes, and keep pushing forward. Your experience will grow, and one day, you'll be the one inspiring others. Remember, we're all in this together, working towards our goals and finding our place. Success happens at different times for everyone. Be patient and wait for your turn. Everyday, Let's thanks to the new experiences..! #EmbraceyourSuccessjourney #inspiring #journeytocorporate #journeyaftergraduation #corporatejourney

Embracing the Challenges and Rewards of Starting a New Job 🚀 As I head into the 8th week of my new role, I wanted to share some insights I have gained 🧐 Starting a new job is always a blend of excitement and anxiety, but transitioning to a new industry adds a whole new layer of challenges. 🧗🏽♀️ The learning curve can feel steep, and it's easy to feel out of your depth! Every day brings new terms to understand, new processes to master, and new people to build relationships with. It's a lot to take in, and it can be daunting. 😅 But here's the thing: these challenges are where the real growth happens. 🔥 Stepping out of your comfort zone pushes you to develop skills you never knew you had and to see problems from fresh perspectives. It's a crash course in adaptability, resilience, and continuous learning. 🪄 I may not be the best in my new role (right now), but I’m committed to giving it my all: every mistake is a lesson, every question a step towards understanding. 🙏🏻 In the end, it's not just about fitting into a new industry; it's about expanding my horizons and becoming a more versatile professional. So, to everyone starting new roles or industries: embrace the challenges. Take each day as an opportunity to learn and grow. 🍃 It’s not about being perfect; it’s about making progress and giving your best effort. 👏🏻 #NewBeginnings #CareerGrowth #LearningJourney #EmbraceChallenges

🌟 Experience vs. Time Spent: What Really Matters? 🌟 In the professional world, there's often a debate between the value of experience and the amount of time spent in a role. While both are important, they don't always equate to the same thing. 🕒 Time Spent: Simply put, the number of years you've been in a job or industry. It's often used as a benchmark for promotions and opportunities. However, longevity doesn't always guarantee expertise or innovation. 💡 Experience: This goes beyond just time. It's about the challenges you've faced, the skills you've honed, and the knowledge you've acquired. Quality experiences can sometimes outweigh the number of years in a role. 🚀 Why Experience Matters More: Skills and Competence: The actual tasks and challenges you've tackled build your competence. Adaptability: Being exposed to diverse scenarios and learning to navigate them is key. Impact: Your contributions and the value you add to your team and organization hold more weight. 🔄 Balancing Both: Ideally, a combination of rich experience over a significant period is the sweet spot. Continuous learning and taking on new challenges can help bridge the gap. Remember, it's not just about how long you've been at the game, but how well you've played it. Keep pushing for growth, seek out challenging opportunities, and never stop learning! #ProfessionalDevelopment #CareerGrowth #ExperienceMatters #ContinuousLearning
