August 19th is World Humanitarian Day and the theme this year is to #ActForHumanity. Witnessing a genocide in Gaza for more than 10 months is depressing. The Israeli Occupying Forces continue to threaten the foundation of humanitarian work in Gaza by blocking aid and targeting and killing humanitarian workers. Let's call out to the global community to endorse and support International Humanitarian Laws to protect the lives of humanitarian workers who risk their lives to provide aid and support in Gaza. Let's advocate for #ceasefirenow in Gaza as an act for humanity. #worldhumanitarianday #humanity #stopgazagenocide

Gaza one year on: European Union and its Member States should take decisive diplomatic action to ensure the protection of civilians, uphold International Humanitarian Law (IHL), and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza. The time to act is now!
📢Almost a year after the escalation of violence in #Gaza, the humanitarian crisis continues to deepen, with devastating consequences for civilians. Since October 2023, over 41,000 Palestinians have lost their lives, including more than 11,000 children, and the situation is rapidly deteriorating in the region. Humanitarian workers are also at risk, with more than 280 having been killed while trying to provide aid to those in need. The obstruction of #humanitarian access has left over two million people without essential supplies like food, water, and healthcare. As the leading European network of humanitarian #NGOs, VOICE calls on the European Union and its Member States to take decisive diplomatic action to ensure the protection of civilians, uphold International Humanitarian Law (#IHL), and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian access in Gaza. The time to act is now! 🔽Read our full statement here

Today marks one year since the attack by Hamas on Israeli civilians, leading to the abduction and killing of hundreds of hostages – many of whom remain unaccounted for. Following the attack, Israel's ongoing retaliatory action in Gaza, and more recently Lebanon, has led to the killing of over 40,000 people, and the displacement of more than 2 million, as well as the destruction of most health facilities and enormous barriers for aid delivery. Humanitarian need remains sky-high and must be addressed as a matter of urgency. Last year, we asked authors to respond to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and Israel, and invite you to read their important contributions today: https://lnkd.in/eH5w2mRt #CeasefireNow #Gaza #Lebanon #Israel

🌍 The #UnitedNations, which holds the responsibility of providing humanitarian aid, protecting people, and offering support to all nations without bias or discrimination, is facing a major challenge in Gaza. A total of 97 UN aid trucks were looted, yet the UN claims it has no information or details regarding the responsible party. 🚨 In a surprising turn, a reporter asked: Reporter: “You don’t know who looted those 97 UN trucks in Gaza?” The UN responded: “We don’t ask questions in situations like this, especially when an armed group is involved in looting.” 🤔 How can the UN ignore such a significant incident? Where is the transparency and accountability in protecting the humanitarian aid that should reach those in dire need? #UN #Gaza #HumanitarianAid #Accountability #Transparency #HumanRights #Conflict #Palestine António Guterres Tirana Hassan

🇺🇳🇮🇱 The call for accountability has never been more urgent. As highlighted by a top UN Humanitarian Official, the lack of consequences for the killing of humanitarian aid workers in Gaza is a grave injustice. This impunity not only undermines the rule of law but also perpetuates a cycle of violence and suffering. ⚖️📜 There is widespread demand for a more aggressive approach to hold those responsible accountable. The international community, including bodies like the UN, ICC, and Human Rights Watch, must intensify their efforts to ensure justice for the victims and their families. Let us not turn a blind eye to these atrocities. Stand up for human rights and the protection of those who risk their lives to provide humanitarian aid. It's time to act and ensure that justice prevails. #palestine #gaza #unitednations

UNRWA has been a lifeline for millions of Palestinian refugees in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and neighboring countries, offering humanitarian aid, education & shelter. As the occupying power #Israel has a legal obligation to ensure the basic needs of Palestinians in #Gaza and the West Bank, and to uphold their human rights. By impeding UNRWA’s operations, Israel is violating International Court of Justice (ICJ)'s orders for it to take immediate measures to protect Palestinians in the occupied Gaza Strip from the risk of genocide, including by ensuring sufficient humanitarian assistance & facilitating basic services. The Israeli government must urgently revoke legislation violating its obligations, stop the relentless smear campaign against UNRWA and take urgent action to alleviate the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians
