WHAT KIND OF HYBRIDITY DO WE NEED? Industry leaders, academics, and enthusiasts from across the globe recently gathered in Pretoria to attend the ASSADPAM conference. Hosted by the School of Public Management and Administration, the two-day event focused on the theme, “Governance in action: Policy, politics, and public administration in flux.” Professor Jarmo Vakkuri from Finland’s Tampere University set the stage with his keynote title, addressing ‘Governing hybridity in policy, politics, and public administration.’ His thought-provoking question regarding the type of hybridity needed urged participants to critically evaluate different forms of hybridity and their potential effects. BREAKING: New Poll in the @DailySignal Shows Disturbing Findings 🔸 39% of American Muslims denied that Hamas committed atrocities on October 7th, compared to 7% of the general public. 🔸 43% of American Muslims believe Israel lacks the right to exist, while 11% of the general public agrees. 🔸 58% of Muslims say Jews have too much influence in U.S. media, versus 22% of the general public; 57% say Jews influence federal policy too much, compared to 17% of the general public. 🔸 39% of Muslims support implementing Sharia law, versus 10% of the general population. The poll was conducted by J.L. Partners on behalf of The Heritage Foundation

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed by Dr. Phiset Sa-ardyen, Executive Director of the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ) and Douglas Durán Chavarría, Executive Director of the United Nations Latin American Institute for Crime Prevention and the Treatment of Offenders (ILANUD), to work together on the development of justice systems in Asia and Latin America. This MoU, signed on November 28, 2024 in San Jose, Costa Rica, is the first step toward building justice system capacity and sharing knowledge and best practices on prison reform, gender-sensitive justice, restorative justice, and the rule of law. Additionally, it is fortifying ties amongst UN Programme Network Institutes (UN PNIs) in order to enhance international collaboration. The signed agreement reaffirms the TIJ and ILANUD's dedication to advancing the development of regional and international justice systems in order to guarantee equity and fairness for all in the long run.
