Half a year has passed, and it's time for a brief summary. In the first six months, we handled over 81,000 flights, with the majority (about 70%) being overflights. On average, there were around 450 flights per day, with a record day on June 2nd when we had 600 flights. Compared to the same period last year, there were about 14% more flights in Estonian airspace. The main airline flying over Estonia - but also to and from Estonia - is Finnair. Still, the most flights with starting or ending points in Estonia are operated by airBaltic. *One of the highlights of the first half of 2024 was taking over the Kuressaare flight information service. See the clips of the symbolic first Tallinn-Kuressaare flight, which we managed from the Tallinn remote tower center. The remote tower system has been fully developed in Estonia by local professionals; it began in cooperation with Cybernetica AS and continued on with Adacel Technologies Estonia, Adacel.

As an aviation professional, it's fascinating to see the projected passenger volumes for CDG during the 2024 Paris Olympics. Interestingly, the forecast indicates a significant dip in passenger numbers compared to previous Olympic years. For instance, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics saw approximately 11,420 athletes and thousands of additional attendees, resulting in higher passenger volumes The reduction this time might reflect broader travel trends and post-pandemic adjustments. This visual forecast highlights peak travel days, ensuring we’re prepared for the logistical challenges ahead. It’s a testament to the aviation sector's critical role in facilitating global events.

I used to really dislike trade shows like ITB Berlin, not because of anything that ITB does (or does not) do. BUT when you hold a significant CEO role, ITB is basically a succession of "why hasn't your team done this" meeting after meeting. And when every meeting is multi-millions of dollars, this is somewhat difficult to be enjoyable. This time around, speaking at Arival (Sunday, breakout 2, paid conference) about AI tour guides. Then at the eTravel stage (Wednesday, 11:30), about what replaces the tour bus (autonomous vehicles - ground and eVTOL) and what replaces reztech/OTAs (Digital Experience Platforms - DXPs). This time around I get to speak about why my former partners need to get on the AI train ASAP (and in many cases are too late)..... Frankly, this is much more enjoyable! Finally looking forward to ITB! https://lnkd.in/eeKYJnJg

The session of the #emobilityfestival in #Milan is underway, where #Advanced_Air_Mobility is being discussed, practically at the #same_time as the similar sessions at the #NBAABACE in #Las_Vegas. An interesting opportunity to compare the various national approaches (China/Europe/Middle East/UAE/USA ) to UAM/AAM. #SEA_Milan_Airports #VEGA #AAM #vertiports #Business_Aviation

🛫 🚁 Reflecting on the Singapore Airshow 2024 🇸🇬 : A Week of Innovation and Anticipation? As the curtains closed on the Singapore Airshow, a week-long extravaganza of aviation marvels and industry networking, it's time to ponder the innovations and encounters that characterized this prestigious event. Amidst the bustling activity, we witnessed the emergence of the Comac C919 as a potential game-changer, challenging the longstanding dominance of Boeing and Airbus in the commercial aircraft market. Comac's aggressive marketing, securing orders from overseas carriers like Tibet Airlines and lessors such as Henan Civil Aviation Development & Investment Group, signals a shift in the industry's landscape. Lessons from the automotive sector highlight the importance of not underestimating the potential of rising competitors. Rolls Royce's substantial upgrade of the Trent engine showcased at the airshow promised enhanced performance, setting new standards for propulsion systems. The introduction of United Aircraft's UR6000 and the anticipation surrounding JetZero's flight tests further added to the excitement, signaling continued innovation in aircraft technology and design. Despite the absence of entirely new revelations, the Singapore Airshow remains an invaluable source of insights into the market's direction, particularly in a region of significant market size and geopolitical importance. As Director of Sky Hunters, I am optimistic about the market's growth, with the theme of talent and people remaining central. Our role in finding and engaging talent is crucial, regardless of a company's size or prominence. With our extensive experience in executive search and a deep understanding of the aviation and aerospace industry, Sky Hunters is well-equipped to support companies in this sector. Lastly, I extend my appreciation to Roberto Tonna (CEO of Ala), Christian De Stantis (CCO of Ala), and Christian Battisti (Sales and Marketing Director of Avio Interiors) for their valuable insights and gracious hospitality at the airshow. Their presence underscores the importance of the Southeast Asian market and reflects a forward-thinking strategic vision. #SkyHunters #ala #aviointeriors #singaporeairshow #aviation #recruitment

My latest video is now live! This week, we're exploring the new #Eurocity service between #Brussels and #Paris 🇧🇪 🚆🇫🇷 This new service, operated in cooperation between NMBS Internationaal - SNCB International and SNCF Voyageurs, was launched for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games to increase capacity between these two cities. Currently, there are two round trips a day. While the journey takes longer than the Eurostar—about twice as long—it's much more affordable. I paid only €39 for a second-class ticket, which is very reasonable. Why this new service is a GOOD thing for passengers: For the past 28 years, if you wanted to travel nonstop between Paris and Brussels, your only choice was Thalys (now Eurostar) Despite the quick journey time of just 1h22, having only one option wasn't great for a couple of reasons: - Prices: Eurostar fares can easily exceed €100, which is quite expensive for a trip of under 90 minutes. - Flexibility: Eurostar requires mandatory reservations, meaning you can't just hop on if your plans change. The trains' capacity hasn't increased in 28 years, so they often sell out. This lack of flexibility can be frustrating, especially for last-minute travel, forcing you to consider driving or taking a bus and I believe train travel should always be an option, even if it means standing when seats aren't available. With the introduction of this new Eurocity service, passengers finally have more choices. The train has almost 600 seats, so you're almost guaranteed to find a spot. According to current plans, this service is set to end after the Paralympic Games on September 8th. However, rumors suggest that if it's successful, it could become a daily service in December, either under the OUIGO Train Classique brand or as a continued Eurocity service. I'm really excited about this potential addition to our travel options! Enjoy the video! 🚆 https://lnkd.in/e9iFsVVu
