🪴Conscious of its weak presence on the TV set side, and behind the competition on device support, InterDigital, Inc. is attempting to grow hardware adoption for Advanced HDR by Technicolor, developed in coordination with Philips. ♻️The resolution-enhancing technology is now being rolled out in ATSC 3.0 channels, and at NAB we were also presented with the standard's energy-saving potential, notably with a demonstration from the Ultra HD Forum showing how broadcasters could ensure a feed is reconstructed with a lower luminance (like 800 nits instead of 1,000). 🤓 For example, we are told that reducing brightness by 40% from 1000 nits to 600 nits for an HDR feed can slash device power usage some 10%, from 120 Watts to roughly 110 Watts in an OLED 55-inch TV. Audio-Video Signal Distribution is an important process in every broadcast production infrastructure. During the process, input signals are duplicated into one or more identical copies, using distribution modules. Radio/TV production signals are in digital or analog formats or combinations of both. Broadcast centers need to process various input signals by dozens of different equipment and devices; and exactly here is where distributor modules come into play to generate similar copies of an original signal to be used by multiple broadcast devices. SAMIM DVD-3214 is a 12G/3G/HD/SD-SDI/ASI and video distribution amplifier operating as single-channel or dual-channel modules. A re-clocker for jitter removal and an equalizer for cable loss compensation are the main capabilities of the module. For reliability in the signal chain and in the case of power failure, the main input signal line is routed to the output by the bypass relay tool. DVD-3214 is one of our best-seller products which helps broadcasters provide as many signal lines as they need for their various production and broadcast workflows. #sdi #broadcast #production #samim_group

📡 5G enables broadcasters to move video faster over a wireless connection - it is characterised by better speeds and capacity, lower latency, better reliability and efficiency. Although successful trials have proven that 5G can be used in production, there are still latency challenges preventing broader rollout. Analysis of Caretta Portal newsfeed reveals that there were over 10,000 news mentions of 5G in 2023 which represents an 86% increase from 2022. By contrast, in the year to date, this number has dropped by 28% per month suggesting that the hype around 5G is dying down. We have just released a new report in partnership with IBC - International Broadcasting Convention to highlight the outcomes from broadcaster trials and explore the potential benefits and challenges of integrating 5G into your workflow. 🔗 Read the full 5G in broadcast report here https://lnkd.in/edUtFKKB #IBC2024 #IBC #5G #connectivity #broadcast #mediatech

Q&A: NDI's Daniel Nergard on navigating the evolution of live production and broadcast tech https://nca.st/2U6lY "Adopting Video Over IP in many video-based industries is not just a trend but an unstoppable transition. However, many users are still looking for 'the standard' that offers ease of use, flexibility and performance across any context. NDI is quickly and consistently becoming the answer for more users and use cases due to its seamless interoperability, low costs, and unparalleled ecosystem of products. I envision that NDI will become much bigger than it already is." #NDI #Broadcast #BroadcastEngineering #TVProduction #VideoOverIP #BroadcastAV #AV

5G takes center stage as one of the key trends at this year's IBC in Amsterdam 5G was a key focus at this year's IBC in Amsterdam, with several sessions exploring its impact on broadcasting. A notable topic was the convergence of 5G with traditional broadcast standards like ATSC 3.0 and DVB-T2. This concept allows 5G Broadcast to coexist within the same UHF channel, enabling smoother service migration in congested spectrum areas while supporting legacy devices. The IBC Technical Papers session on "5G Technology - Convergence with Broadcast" discussed how 5G Broadcast can operate simultaneously with current terrestrial standards, offering flexibility and efficiency in managing spectrum. Another key session, "5G Innovations for M&E," highlighted new 5G features like network slicing, which allows specific 5G bandwidth to be dedicated to individual customers. This has the potential to optimize content production and distribution, offering more flexibility and quality guarantees. Additionally, a demonstration from Verizon of an end-to-end workflow with remote production and delivery of NHL content over 5G networks showed how this technology can reduce broadcasting costs and simplify cloud-based video workflows, showcasing its potential to transform media industry operations. Net Insight participated in this project that also received an innovation award at the show. These discussions at IBC 2024 highlighted how 5G is poised to significantly impact broadcasting and media delivery, offering new opportunities for innovation and efficiency. #5GInnovation #IBCTech2024 #MediaTech #BroadcastingEvolution #5GInMedia #DigitalTransformation #ContentDelivery Link: https://lnkd.in/duRnpXYe

Next Broadcast! . . IBC - International Broadcasting Convention 2024 once again proved to be an exciting platform for exchange and inspiration in a rapidly evolving industry. The topic "Next Broadcast" can be interpreted in many ways by me. Where is the journey headed? Will the changing user consumption habits push the industry toward overdue innovations? 👉How long will traditional TV broadcasters rely on high-end solid-state hardware? 👉Will film and advertising productions continue to depend on high-end technology, or are smarter alternatives on the rise? 👉The question of whether SMPTE 2110 will be replaced by NDI also remains intriguing. 👉Can we finally make virtual production accessible to a broader user? 👉Is a 100% cloud-based solution the future, or is intelligent cloud orchestration enough to integrate on-premise systems while maintaining cost-efficiency and agility? Many questions remain unanswered – but one thing is clear: it’s 11:30; there’s still plenty of time to shape the digital transformation. Events like IBC shouldn’t serve as self-promotion but as platforms to present the insights gained and turn trends into tangible solutions. What innovative insights did you take away from IBC? Really curious to know☝️ #broadcast #IBC #teltecbroadcast #teltec Teltec AG #IBC2024
