Essential #Precautions and Care After a #Dog #Bite: A Personal Reflection* 🐾 Recently, I experienced a #dog #bite, and it underscored the importance of prompt and effective medical care. Here’s a summary of the precautions I took and why they are crucial: Immediate Medical Attention: I sought treatment at Sadar Hospital, ranchi. without delay. This step was vital in preventing complications. 1 - Treatment Received: The hospital administered one tetanus shot and four doses of the rabies vaccine. Both were critical in managing the risk of infection and preventing severe outcomes. 2 - Professional Guidance: The care and advice from the healthcare team were invaluable. Their expertise ensured that I followed the correct treatment protocol. Why Precautions Are Crucial: #Dog #bites can lead to serious health issues if not addressed promptly. Rabies, if left untreated, can have devastating consequences, including neurological damage and death. Additionally, infections from bites can cause long-term problems and significant health challenges. Timely vaccination and medical intervention are essential to mitigate these risks. hence it's important to seek immediate medical help after a dog bite, and adhere to all prescribed treatments to ensure full recovery and prevent complications. I’m grateful for the excellent care I received, and I hope sharing this experience helps others recognize the importance of taking proper precautions. #Health #Safety #MedicalCare #DogBite #Vaccination #PublicHealth

Hand Hygiene Matters! On Sunday, May 5th, I had the privilege to engage with the community for “World Hand Hygiene Day” at Jawahar Circle, Jaipur, focusing on the significance of hand hygiene in preventing infections. It was inspiring to see people of all ages, from kids in skating classes to seniors on their routine morning walks, actively engaging in discussions and demonstrations of proper handwashing techniques. World Hand Hygiene Day, observed annually on May 5th since 2009, reminds us of the crucial role hand hygiene plays in preventing infections. This year's theme, the ‘Power of Hand Hygiene,’ underscores its importance in disease control, urging everyone to make hand hygiene a daily practice. It's fascinating to know that the concept of hand hygiene dates back to the 18th century, when Hungarian physician Ignaz Semmelweis advocated hand washing to prevent infections in healthcare settings, laying the foundation for modern infection control practices. Let's all remember the 5 moments for hand hygiene and share our knowledge to save lives, not just on World Hand Hygiene Day, but every day..!! #HandHygiene #worldhandhygieneday #cleanhands #InfectionPrevention #WorldHealthOrganization

#choleraawareness ✅ Cholera is caused by the bacterium Vibrio cholerae, often spread through contaminated water or food. ✅Main symptoms include severe diarrhea, fever and dehydration. ✅It spreads through consumption of contaminated water or food, particularly in areas with poor sanitation and hygiene practices. ✅Good hygiene practices such as handwashing with soap, drinking clean water, and proper food handling are essential for prevention. Vaccination is also available. ✅Rehydration with oral rehydration salts (ORS) is crucial. In severe cases, intravenous fluids and antibiotics may be necessary. Educating communities about symptoms, prevention, and early treatment can help reduce the impact of cholera outbreaks in Nigeria. Please Share!

As more healthcare workers look for opportunities to go ‘Gloves Off’, we want to emphasise the significance of hand hygiene and other infection prevention measures in healthcare. When working in environments where people may be coming into close contact with infectious pathogens, going ‘Gloves Off’ might feel risky. However, even when working around patients who are isolated under contact precautions, gloves may not be necessary and effective hand hygiene can offer protection for workers and those being cared for. Our Clinical team have been looking at opportunities to reduce unnecessary waste and when to go ‘Gloves Off’ in line with national IPC guidance. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/eyY3Z6DS

On this #Malawi #mothersday #globalhandwashingday and #internationalruralwomensday I want to take a moment to celebrate the Honourable Minister of Health from Malawi Khumbize Chiponda who at the World Health Summit called on stakeholders to focus on the real issues fuelling #AMR emphasising #WASH in HCFs as a huge part of dealing with #AMR in addition to innovation and acess to antibiotics.. "... what is the most important thing is that we really need to sort out the issues on the ground... What is happening to our people to get into this situation? .... hygiene situation in most of our facilities is pathetic, very very pathetic. You cannot do any infection prevention and control because of issues of #WASH fueling infections in our facilities. We have to look at hospital acquired infections as well. ... these are the real issues. ... let us look at what is also fueling AMR in the ground.... and I quote her words from UNGA "if you think preventive care is expensive, try treating the sick" we need more champions like her to help raise the call for ensuring we make #WASH and #IPC priorities in actions combating #AMR Investment in #WASH is investment in #health #preventionfirst #HAIs

Myths and Practices in Complementary Feeding in India - The practice and pattern of feeding in the first 2 years of life is an important determinant of malnourishment in India. Ultimately, maternal decision determines how an infant and young child are fed which in turn determined by the family and community she belongs. Undiluted milk is avoided, so are fresh juices, milk, and sugar as they are thought to produce worms in the stomach; jaggery, eggs, mangoes, and spicy foods are thought to be hot foods. Clean and Safe food - Hygienic practices during food preparation and feeding are important in the prevention and control of gastrointestinal disease in children.[46] Simple hygiene like hand washing before preparation and feeding, safe storage of foods and feeding directly after preparation, using clean utensils for cooking children's food, avoiding bottle feeding, and encouraging family food as complementary feeding are crucial. #balanceddiet #healthcare #hospitalsofbhopal #Bhopal #kohefiza #hospital
