It almost feels surreal... Watching our own documentary by Channels Tv Community Report as we celebrate World Circular Textile Day is a moment I’ll always cherish. 🌍 Our commitment goes beyond making uniforms—we’ve embraced the importance of working with #textilewaste. What started as a journey to reduce waste has now become a life-changing opportunity, particularly for the women in our community who earn a livelihood and care for their families through this initiative. By focusing on our textile waste, we’re not only promoting sustainability, but we’re also contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 1 (No Poverty): Through our textile waste program, we are providing jobs for women and helping them support their families. SDG 13 (Climate Action): By reducing textile waste, we’re playing our part in addressing climate change. SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals): We’ve partnered with GardaWorld and Rite Foods Limited to take this initiative further. We encourage you: Do not trash your old uniforms or clothes. Instead, bring them back to us at Kazih Kits! As we gear up for 2025, we’re on a mission to give 10,000 children school bags made from upcycled materials and Notebooks. Together, we can achieve this milestone and make a lasting impact. With every piece of old clothing, you’re not just reducing waste—you’re putting joy on the faces of children and empowering women in our community. Thank you to Oxfam Novib Impact Learning for introducing me to the power of textile waste and helping me see how I can make my business more sustainable. Now, I’m fully committed to this journey! 🥂Cheers to the bright future ahead, powered by circular textiles and empowered women. 💚 🎥 Watch the full documentary below ⬇️ #WorldCircularTextileDay #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #SDGs #KazihKits #EmpoweredWomen #ClimateAction

#EarthDay highlights the need to reduce waste and protect our planet. 🌍 Menstrual cups are the most environmentally friendly menstrual product out there. Why? ➡ They have less than 1.5% of the environmental impact than a single-use tampon or pad ➡ Using menstrual cups over a lifetime saves the equivalent of 11,000 pads/tampons per person from being added to landfill, polluting oceans and blocking sewers ➡ Menstrual cups are reusable and can last for up to 10 years, whereas single-use pads/tampons take over 500 years to biodegrade. Menstrual cups are the future, and must be accessible for all. With proper training, education, and distribution, menstrual cups can offer individuals the freedom they deserve. Women and the planet deserve better! 🙌 Visit our website to learn more: https://lnkd.in/esEf_k_R #sustainableperiods #gogreen #savetheplanet #sustainability #menstrualcups

A report by World Economic Forum, highlights that women in the plastics value chain experience greater economic and health impacts than men. From working in informal roles as waste-pickers to occupying low-level positions, women are disproportionately exposed to hazardous plastic waste with a gender pay gap. Wastebase DEAL app by Unwaste.io aims to connect waste pickers with fair buyers, ensuring transparent transactions and eliminating fraud. By facilitating equitable economic opportunities, the app not only uplifts waste pickers but also cultivates local circular markets, crucial in the fight against plastic pollution. Furthermore, by championing fairness, Wastebase DEAL contributes to closing the gender pay gap and fostering inclusivity and sustainability within communities. This International Women's Day, join us in recognising the invaluable contribution of waste pickers and supporting our digital solution for a fairer, sustainable future for waste pickers worldwide. I believe true sustainability starts with individual choices and everyday actions. Living in the Western world, we consume a tremendous amount of resources compared to other parts of our planet. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the sheer scale of overconsumption. Yet, every small action counts. What you see in the picture is my favorite wool cardigan. It was warm, cozy, and a staple in my wardrobe until I accidentally ruined it. Instead of discarding it, I decided to mend it. Now, it not only serves me again but also has a personal touch. Small steps like these can contribute to reducing our overall consumption. Let’s move beyond double standards and make sustainability a part of our daily lives. #circulareconomy #sustainability

As a climate journalist, I often feel guilty. I talk about saving the planet from an air-conditioned room. Despite my efforts, I sometimes end up using plastic for convenience. I drive an EV but am often reminded of the impact of EV batteries on the planet. I haven't been able to switch to a menstrual cup or tampons. I try to use period panties, but not every time. I feel guilty wearing denim or any clothing item that I know has negatively impacted the environment. However, I realize that simply discarding it is never the solution. But sustainability isn't about being perfect; it's about making progress. Living with my family, I see how everyone is at different stages of their eco-friendly journey. My mother is great at cutting down on food waste and upcycling old outfits, while others are still learning simple habits like carrying their own bags. We’re all trying our best, and that’s what counts. Inspired by thoughts penned by Arundhati Kumar, I want to share these experiences because every small step helps. It’s okay to slip up occasionally as long as we keep trying to do better. Celebrate your small wins and learn from your mistakes. And as Naman Bajaj says, let’s aim for progress, not perfection. #climateaction #sustainability #newswithnavya #climatechange #sustainablelifestyle #progressoverperfection
