The Boeing 747, famously known as the "Queen of the Skies," has evolved significantly since its 1969 debut, marking key moments in aviation history. Boeing 747-100 (1969) The original 747 revolutionized air travel with its two-deck design and large capacity, making long-haul flights more affordable. It featured four engines and a distinctive humpback design with a small upper deck. Boeing 747-200 (1971) The 747-200 introduced more powerful engines and greater range, with variants for passengers, cargo, and mixed-use, cementing its place in both sectors. Boeing 747-300 (1980) The 747-300 extended the upper deck, adding capacity and luxury spaces, such as first-class lounges. Boeing 747-400 (1989) The 747-400 featured fuel-efficient winglets, glass cockpit displays, and extended non-stop flight capabilities, becoming the preferred aircraft for long international routes. Boeing 747-8 (2010) The 747-8, the final variant, boasted a longer fuselage, new engines, and advanced aerodynamics. Available in passenger and freighter versions, it continued the 747's legacy. An aircraft after landing has to stop on the runway within the given LDA (Landing distance available). For this purpose, a critical equipment is the ground spoilers which ensure sufficient traction between the aircraft tires and the runway surface: 1. The primary purpose of the ground spoilers is to maximise wheel brake efficiency by "spoiling" or dumping the lift generated by the wing and thus forcing the full weight of the aircraft onto the landing gear. 2. #Airbus bogie type landing gear: we see different components of a bogie type landing gear including front & rear axel, torque links and pitch tream actuator. this type of landing gear is used in wide body aircrafts such as A300 A310 A306 A330 A340. Although the A/C is jacked-up we see the axel is not tilted (it tilts while jacking-up because of pitch tream) as the pitch tream actuator is depressurized.
