When it comes to fabrics, we often hear about the most popular choices like cotton, silk, and wool. However, there’s one material that you may not be as familiar with, but it’s definitely worth considering: polypropylene fabric. This material has been around for decades, but it’s only recently that its benefits have started to gain more attention. Not only is it durable and lightweight, but it also has some surprising advantages that make it a great choice for a variety of applications. From being resistant to moisture and bacteria to being recyclable, polypropylene fabric is a versatile material that can benefit you in ways you may not have even considered #polypropylene #lightweight #durable #recyclable #easymaintenance #transportation #packingsolutions #storagesolutions

Why polyester? This is one of the most common questions we get since launching Syre. Polyester is the most widely used and fastest growing textile fiber in the world with approx 60 million tons produced annually. It is used across industries and is a very strong fiber that offers performance other fibers cannot provide. You find polyester in a range of products, from sports and outdoor apparel to seatbelts, airbags, and furniture. Polyester is however also the biggest emitter, accounting for as much as 40% of the textile industry’s CO2e emissions. Virgin polyester is made by crude oil and recycled polyester (rPET, bottle-to-fiber) is a linear and not a circular solution. By implementing textile-to-textile recycling at hyperscale, Syre will put textile waste to use, over and over again. As a start, we focus on polyester – offering circular polyester with superior sustainability performance to all brands across industries with true circularity targets. DID YOU KNOW...? 🧠 1. Polyester is the most widely used synthetic fibre in the world, accounting for over half of the global fibre market! 2. It's also highly recyclable. Our recycled polyester fibre is made from 100% PET bottles. 3. Polyester fibres are naturally hydrophobic, meaning they're moisture resistant. 4. These fibres are known for their strength and durability. They are resistant to stretching, shrinking, and wrinkling! 5. Polyester is extremely versatile and can be engineered to copy the texture and feel of natural fibres like silk, cotton, or wool. Want to know more? Polyester clothing sheds fibers when worn, washed, and dried—representing a major (if invisible) source of #microplastics. Fortunately, NREL and Colorado State University are teaming up with The North Face in a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) BOTTLE Consortium project to address the challenge at its source: Replace polyester with nontoxic, #biodegradable PHA fiber. Learn about the partnership to tailor fit PHA fiber for outdoor apparel that is easy to recycle and limits #plasticpollution: https://bit.ly/3SYzw2y
