We live in a world where we’re constantly fed a newsfeed of trophies. Another promotion. Another award. Another acknowledgement. Another “win.” Comparison is looking at someone’s progress and thinking: they’re better/further along/smarter/stronger/faster than me. Inspiration is looking at someone’s progress and thinking: look what they were able to do, maybe I can do something like that too? I find it easier to by inspired by someone’s words or actions rather than their medals. Medals aren’t bad, but they’re often the catalyst for comparison because they’re designed to emulate a status. Comparison is looking at other people’s progress as the absence of your own. Inspiration is looking at other people’s progress as evidence that it’s possible for you. Know the difference before you scroll 💛

Happy Monday! A week or so ago, I was judging the Asia-Pacific Stevie Awards. Now the tables have turned, as I started this week by finalising my submissions for the 2024 ROAR Awards. When I first started my business, the idea of entering business awards made me feel ick. But now I see the value of entering them. They're definitely a great way to review the ups and downs I've had in my business. Do you enter business awards? #businessawards #businessowner

As the industry heads to #cannes next week, sending a thank you to Yusuf Chuku for judging the WARC Grand Prix #creative awards. It's not often we see a strong POV on the confluence of media (framing) and creative (asset). I wholeheartedly advocate this more complete approach to ad impact! Been on this train for awhile and it's about time we all caught up. Curious Yusuf Chuku - how were the WARC evaluations conducted? Did you use any tools or was it based on human judgement? Asking as I think our industry is at a crucible. We have great, affordable scientifically sound ways to quickly measure impact and engagement on creative/media. Even for judging panels. :) Todd DAIVID 🦩 Ian Forrester 🦩 #media #advertising #mrxjobx Insights Association WARC WPP Publicis Groupe Omnicom Media Group
The WARC Awards Global Grand Prix Winners have just been released. Go to our website to see The Effectiveness Show now 👉 https://lnkd.in/ddvKq2ER Winning is an incredible feat for these campaigns. Only categories where Golds were awarded at the regional level were eligible for a Grand Prix. In those categories, all the Golds then competed against each other, and the Global Super Jury could only award one Grand Prix in each eligible category. They only awarded a Grand Prix if they felt the campaign *absolutely* met the benchmark. Watch The Effectiveness Show where, in 15 minutes, you'll learn who won, and why, along with clips from the winning campaigns. #WARCAwards #GrandPrixWinners #JustAnnounced #Campaign #Winner

Do those who pay to be featured on lists or highlighted in special issues also believe in participation trophies? Why should I pay someone to publish me? Why would I want to pay to be on a list? It’s hard to take seriously those who claim to be the best in the business, yet pay a media company to boost their reputation. Is there even a legitimate list that truly recognizes the excellence of some of these partners? Here’s to the real superheroes in our partner community—the ones who earn their accolades without buying them.

Winning an Award: It's More Than Just the Trophy! Did you know that winning an award opens doors far beyond the accolade itself? it's not just about the moment of victory; there's a whole world of extras that come with it, often overlooked but incredibly valuable. Take, for example, the opportunity to be featured in prestigious publications – a benefit that's worth its weight in gold. Normally, securing a spot in a leading magazine can be costly, but winning an award can land you that coveted space for free. And it's not just any advertisement; it's a feature that celebrates your achievement, adding an extra layer of credibility and recognition. So, the next time you're considering entering an award, remember it's not just about the win – it's about the journey and the doors it opens.
