The Small Commercial Yacht Code (SCYC) 2024, recently introduced by the Merchant Shipping Directorate within Transport Malta, aims to address the evolving needs, demands, and technological advancements of smaller commercial yachts registered under the Malta flag, and ensure compliance with international safety regulations and standards. This comprehensive and specialised code, developed in collaboration with industry stakeholders, specifically applies to commercial yachts with hull lengths of 12 to 24 meters, carrying no more than 12 passengers and which is is engaged in commercial activities; it also supersedes relevant provisions of the Commercial Yacht Code 2020 for such vessels. Q & A ❓️ Tuesday ❗️ Q: How many guests are allowed on board? A: The number of allowed guests on board depends on each boat and you find the exact information written in each PDF/catalog of the boats. Every boat has a different charter permission, in which the number of guests is specified. We have to stick with this number strictly. ⚓️ No matter how big the yacht is, due to international law, there is no charter permission for more than 12 guests on board. In this case, we have to take event boats or do a tandem charter. Next week more about charters for bigger groups 🙂 #ibiza #boatrental #boatrentalibiza #yachtcharteribiza #ibizaboating #ibizalifestyle #yachtinglifestyle #ibizasummer #FAQ #boatrentals #formentera #boatday #summervibes

Some big news that is worth sharing for the US West Coast's yachting industry... Marine Group Boat Works and their sister marina Fifth Avenue Landing have been approved to be Foreign Trade Zones (FTZ)! This means that foreign-flagged vessels can be legally marketed to U.S. buyers without having to pay hefty import duties and other required fees as soon as they enter American waters. Until now, these FTZs were primarily in Florida, Rhode Island and Washington. International customers can now be better served by providing an additional level of convenience and service, while also bringing new business to this west coast region. With amazing weather all year round, San Diego is a competitive location for owners to consider selling their yachts, and continuing maintenance/ refit works at the excellent facilities available.
