Ghana @67: Our freedom remains incomplete until we possess absolute control of choice. In most cases, Africa still can't decide what to eat, wear, sleep, or even how to think. Africa, in its entirety, cannot choose how to be treated by others; this isn't absolute freedom. Until we are free to make choices, traverse a world without boundaries, and sustain ourselves and others with our sense of duty surpassing dependence, we are far from complete independence. We must perceive corruption as a foreign culture and expel it, just as we did with colonialism. Loving our country and serving it with honesty and patriotism are imperative. Recognizing that the competition is not amongst ourselves but with the rest of the world to enhance our homeland as a better and safer place is crucial. However, we should celebrate every level of freedom attained. Today marks yet another milestone in our democratic history. Happy Independence Day to our beloved Ghana. #Losso #Independence #ghana

My meeting with Samia Nkurumah daughter of Kwame Nkurumah of Ghana. Samia is keeping her father's legacy .We had a long afternoon discussing Nkurumah as a father , a leader and his legacy and the current Pan African affairs "Common territory, language and culture may in fact be present in a nation, but the existence of a nation does not necessarily imply the presence of all three. Common territory and language alone may form the basis of a nation. Similarly, common territory plus common culture may be the basis. In some cases, only one of the three applies. A state may exist on a multi-national basis. The community of economic life is the major feature within a nation, and it is the economy which holds together the people living in a territory. It is on this basis that the new Africans recognise themselves as potentially one nation, whose domination is the entire African continent.”Kwame Nkurumah ,Class Struggle In Africa

In my column today in The Guardian Nigeria, I opined that for Nigeria to overcome her current developmental quagmires, the tribe must die. I argued by analysing the work of Michael Samora, a sociologist, who opined that a nation divided by ethnic and tribal lines can not achieve sustainable growth. Social integration, according to Samora, involves creating policies and institutions that promote inclusivity and equal opportunities for all citizens, regardless of their ethnic backgrounds. Coroborating Samora, David Easton, a renowned political scientist, said that for a political system in a country to be stable and effective, it must manage conflicts and build a sense of community among its members. This connotes that Nigerians must first build loyalty and trust to themselves above ethnic and religious barriers, in order to create a political environment where all citizens feel represented and valued. Through Easton and Samora’s theories, I can firmly assert that Nigeria’s growth and development depends on the eradication of the concept of tribe and ethnicity. In my conclusion, I recommends a peaceful dissolution of the amalgamation of 1914 if we all can not allow diversity to work. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eprnXRN7

Informal settlements in the African context clearly show our urban policies aren’t working for the new entrants, we need to rethink about our urban policy and how to involve informal settlements dwellers into the formulation process to arrive at policies that will transform these settlements.

Nnamdi Azikiwe: Architect of Liberation, Journalism and A New African Consciousness Part 1 Nnamdi Azikiwe, often referred to as "Zik of Africa," was a founding editor of the Ghanaian newspaper, African Morning Post, owned by Alfred Ocansey. His column, The Inside Stuff by Zik, became a powerful platform for promoting a pro-African nationalist agenda. Through his writings, Zik articulated the aspirations of a continent yearning for freedom, setting the stage for his lifelong commitment to African liberation. In Accra, Zik advanced the concept of a “New Africa,” a vision he detailed in his influential book Renascent Africa. He defined New Africa as a state where Africans would be liberated from ethnic affiliations and traditional authorities, embracing a transformation driven by five key philosophical pillars: spiritual balance, social regeneration, economic determinism, mental emancipation, and national Risorgimento (resurgence).
