It would take only 2 minutes of your time, which could help me get at least an opportunity for my career👇 In 2024, landing your first job is difficult; competition is higher nowadays, and open positions are fewer as compared to the previous year, but still, there are many companies hiring freshmen who are recent graduates or from IT backgrounds, and what about non-IT people. They don't even get a chance, even though they have skills that compete with each other in some aspects. You can't judge someone by their background without even testing their skills.  I am a non-IT student from 2021, and in 2024 I have completed my PG-Diploma in Big Data Analytics. There was a career hiatus due to personal issues, but I resumed my career journey. Coming from a non-IT field, opportunities are limited, even though I have the skills to get into the current job market. I have applied for over 500 jobs (where they are asking for CS,IT background or 0-1 experience or need fresher or don't say anything) since last month, and I only get 3–4 responses, but after interviewing, I didn't get any feedback from their end. I need help if your companies have any openings in the IT field, such as data analyst, machine learning engineer, sql developer, powerBI/tableau developer, software engineer, associate, graduate trainee,or any other opportunities in the data sector, but I am open to exploring roles in other areas as well. Some advice I always give to anyone seeking guidance in Data Science and Analytics- Don't just sit idle during your learning journey! Be consistent in: 1️⃣ Showcasing your work and contributions to platforms like Kaggle, LeetCode, GitHub, etc. and add in your resume. 2️⃣ Avoid gaps in your experiences by joining internships (paid or unpaid anything)—it boosts your credibility, and support your interview. 3️⃣ Regularly share your achievements and new skills on with your connections. Authenticity beats polished content any day! (Don't try to be content writer, share your ups, downs, new learnings, experiences, anything). 4️⃣ Focus on quality over quantity, with max 2-3 end to end standout projects. This is an iterative process, so, regularly update techniques, optimize code, retrain models, aim for deployment—your portfolio should reflect continuous learning and implementation. What things need to focus on before applying for any jobs: 1. Resume (add 2/3 project a better one) 2. Portfolio ( open source project) 3. I was recently asked an insightful question by a fresh graduate transitioning into data analytics. (Mind-boggling to think about) The question was: "𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐩𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐬?" Now, the answer remains: Here’s what I shared: 𝟭. Navigating the Job Market as a Data Analyst: The current job market, especially for roles like Data Analysts, has been incredibly tough to navigate. Despite many companies claiming to have open positions, the gap between posted jobs and actual opportunities feels wider than ever. I've applied to numerous roles, yet many of these positions seem perpetually open without real hiring taking place and the offers that I receive are revoked #OfferRevoked. What makes it even more challenging is the growing demand for experienced professionals, leaving little room for fresh graduates like me who are eager to contribute and grow. I completed my education (B.Tech in Computer Science) and have hands-on experience in R, Python, SQL, Excel, and Tableau through projects and internships, it's tough to break through the wall of requirements that so often exclude those without years of industry experience. Using LinkedIn as a platform to connect and find job opportunities has also felt more futile in recent times. The competition is fierce, and without the right referrals or networks, it feels like shouting into the void. I'm sharing this in the hope that anyone in my network or beyond might be able to assist or recommend any open data analyst positions or resources that could help.
