BTTC is taking part in celebrations today to mark Earth Day 2024. We are committed to the future of our planet and have a business objective to be carbon neutral by the end of 2025. Today, over 60% of our company joined James Dent, Sustainability Director at COCO+ | Certified B Corporation and all round sustainability expert, to learn about the impact we have on the environment through our habits as individuals and as a business, and the steps that we can take to be more sustainable. Our approach to the environment and sustainability forms part of our business goal to leave a lasting legacy for the communities we serve. In 2023, we partnered with a sustainable travel platform to offset 101% of our carbon emissions related to business travel, resulting in over 224tCO2e offset supporting projects certified by Climate Impact Partners with Gold Standard certification. In 2024, we are supporting degraded grasslands afforestation projects in Uruguay, the Gola rainforest Redd+ conservation project in Sierra Leone, and a methane leak repairs project in Bangladesh through our carbon offsetting approach. Our approach to corporate and social responsibility has a significant alignment to the United Nations’ (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainability and their 17 ‘Sustainable Development Goals’ (SDGs), which are ‘an urgent call for action by all countries - developed and developing - in a global partnership.’ Our aim is that through only working in industries that support carbon reduction or social value initiatives and through helping our employees to make more informed choices we will contribute to a more sustainable planet.
