We are exposed to many factors that impact our health – positively and negatively – along our life course. From early life to older age, there are windows of opportunity to prevent negative health outcomes and encourage positive health. We support this message as part of today's #EUPHW2024 theme. Our project studies these environmental, lifestyle and biological factors, known as the #exposome, across the whole life course to understand the risk of developing cardiometabolic diseases. #Policy must also consider this exposome and life course approach, collaborating across multiple areas such as education, environment, and health, to break down silos. EUPHA - European Public Health Association, UNESCO Chair Global Health & Education Want to understand more about the #exposome and its potential impact on our health. 🔎🔍 Our global research is now published in The Lancet Journal (Q1, IF 168.9), a world-leading source of clinical, public health, and global health knowledge! We are honored to present the pivotal findings that offer a comprehensive view of COVID-19's influence on health across the world. Key Insights: ✨Staggering Loss: nearly 16 million people died due to the pandemic in 2020 and 2021. ✨A Sudden Drop: the pandemic caused a decrease in global life expectancy by 1.6 years from 2019 to 2020. ✨Resilient Progress: between 1950 and 2021, global life expectancy increased by almost 23 years from 49 to 71.7 years. ✨A Silver Lining for the Young: mortality rates among children under 5 decreased by 7% from 2019 to 2021. These findings are a clarion call to global health stakeholders to leverage this knowledge for strategic action and resilient recovery. #LancetResearch #PublicHealth #COVID19 #ResilienceInHealth #CurtinUniversityMalaysia
