Yesterday at #COP28 our founding partner Dunja Kovari participated in the official #postcrisis panel on "Urban Revival: Green recovery after crisis". Together with Naomi Hoogervorst from #UNHabitat and Read Gasimov from #Baku she discussed how climate action can be transformed into a driving force for urban reconstruction by showcasing our pioneering work in the field of green recovery in the Republic of Azerbaijan inline with the #UN #SDG's. 👉 Lessons learned: 📌 Urban regeneration after crisis offers a unique opportunity for climate resilience and for a greener and better future. 📌 Climate action has the potential to be a transformative power. It can therefore play a vital role in rebuilding post-crisis cities. 📌 When it comes to implementation multilevel action including authorities and local partners is key. 👉 What you can do: ✅ Promote blue and green networks to create a robust, rapidly visible framework. Turn natural assets into value. ✅ Change the perspective when it comes to rebuilding. Integrate the built environment into the existing landscape (not the other way around). ✅ Introduce nature-based solutions at all scales, from landscape through streetscapes to buildings. ✅ Focus on liveable neighbourhoods with green and social infrastructures and a contextual approach to urban design and architecture. ✅ Work collaboratively and use synergies for noticeable and sustainable results. 🙏 Thanks to @Read Gasimov, Head of Baku City Architecture und Urban Development Departement; Naomi Hoogervorst, UN-Habitat Planning, Finance and Economy Section; Ramil Jahangirov, State Committee of Urban Planning and Architecture Azerbaijan 🙏🙏 Special thanks to the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture of the Republic of Azerbaijan for supporting pioneer projects for climate resilience and green recovery and for sharing experience by hosting this official #COP28 side-event. #COP28 #Dubai #UNHabitat #MENR #Scupa #postconflict #postcrisis #greenrecovery #postconflictreconstruction #urbanregeneration
