August has come to a end and that means a wrap on summer activities so here is what we got up to: 🥳 We hosted around 130 of our friends from hospitality at our Wild Day Out in West Wittering. Not quite August but we still want to brag about this as it was so much fun. 🍸 We have officially found out we are the number one Performing High-end Sustainable Spirits in the UK, that was a bit a a tongue twister. 👕 Our t-shirts have finally launched on our website so we can spread the treevolution together. 🤝 We have gained 23 new on-trade accounts. 🏴 Scotland you have our heart, with a lot of our tree planting projects being done there, we are officially stocked in Booths with our Climate Positive Vodka & Wonky Raspberry Hibiscus Vodka - Slàinte 🍻 Time to look forward to an equally busy September!

Here they are, the 10, #ScotchWhiskyTruths. Simple questions we need simple answers to. 1. Why is there already a Maritime Tourism Strategy and Budget but NOT a Scotch Whisky Tourism Strategy and Budget, in Scotland? 2. Why is there no Scotch Whisky Minister in Hollyrood? Scotch is 25% of ALL UK (not Scottish, it's MUCH larger, at 77%) Food and Drink Exports? 3. Why isn't there a united, Government-sanctioned staff Training Scheme, to sell Scotch to Tourists? Outside of a few good, high-profile places, nobody knows anything. 4. Why aren't great Whisky Bars in Scotland rewarded with a Sign and Certificate, like CAMRA Real Ale pubs are? 5. In total, how many Scotch Whisky Casks are maturing in Scotland? The Official SWA line is, about 20 million. Diageo are cagey but suggest 10 million. There's their VAST places Black Grange, Bonnybridge, Menstrie, Kirkcaldy, Leven, Addiewell, then Dumbarton, Beith (Chivas alone has 22 sites) every other Distiller has countless others. Of course, there are also maturation sheds at every one, of the 145 Distilleries. Does this all add up to only 20 million? Of course not. Even in unguarded moments, the Scotch Whisky Association suggest there are over 45,000,000. 6. Duty on Scotch now is a ridiculous 75%. If an Alien came down to Earth and you told them this, they would assume mass exploitation somewhere! Will there be a ceiling on this ludicrous profiteering? 7. Why isn't there a 'Scotch Whisky The Brand' type, non-political, global 'digital diaspora' drive? 8. How many litres of Raw alcohol is Distilled in Scotland each year and how much Duty does this raise? 9. Why can you visit Scotland's biggest Nuclear Power Station but you CAN'T visit Scotland's biggest Distillery? Half of ALL Scotch Distilleries are closed? Why? 10. Ireland has 600,000 Whiskey Tourists, Kentucky has a smaller population than Scotland and less Distilleries but gets more Booze Tourists. Why does the massively- larger Scotch Industry only have 2.2 million Scotch Whisky Tourists?

Exciting Announcement! Please join us in welcoming Helen S. Medina as our inaugural Chief Executive Officer of the World Spirits Alliance (WSA). With over 15 years of experience in global public policy processes, Helen brings a wealth of expertise to lead our organization toward its purpose, vision, mission, and strategic priorities. As a multicultural professional with a dynamic background, Helen's leadership will be instrumental in advancing the WSA's work of uniting spirits producers worldwide, advocating for industry interests, and promoting best practices to address societal and environmental challenges. With over two decades of successful informal cooperation under its belt, the spirits producers and producer organizations from around the globe officially established the World Spirits Alliance (WSA) in 2019. The membership includes 11 leading spirits companies and 16 associations of spirits producers from around the world. It offers a common platform for industry representatives to share insights, work together on global issues to advance industry interests, and promote best practices to tackle societal and environmental challenges. Rooted in history and tradition, spirits are treasured products and distinguishing sources of cultural pride, enriching societies and economies. From the rice fields of China to the vineyards of France to the barley fields in Scotland and the sugar cane plantations in the Caribbean, each crop contributes to spirits production, sustaining livelihoods along the way. Did you know that the spirits industry is the most valuable alcoholic beverage? In 2022, the industry had $470 billion of retail sales value. And, as a sector, it supported 36M jobs in the same year. This is akin to the UK's entire workforce! This underscores its immense impact on global economies. Under Helen's leadership, we are entering a new era of collaboration, advocacy, and sustainability. Together with our members and stakeholders, we are in creating a world where every spirits moment is enjoyed responsibly and sustainably. #WorldSpiritsAlliance #Sustainability #Spirits #ExcitingTimes #NewCEO #Cheers 🍸 🥃 🌿

Successful days in Portugal! 🇵🇹 On the third day of her trip, our colleague Kerstin Houf spent valuable time in Porto. There she took part in important business meetings and expanded her knowledge of the rich history of Portuguese wine. 🍷 The direct exchange on site is invaluable. Maintaining international business contacts in person and understanding the cultural characteristics of the countries is crucial to our success and the successful planning of our trade fair. Such trips offer more than just business benefits - they provide deeper insights, promote intercultural dialogue and strengthen relationships with our international partners. In a globally networked world, it is essential to have a local presence and to know the stories behind the products. We are convinced that this approach leads to better business results and stronger partnerships in the long term. It's more than just business! #portugalwein #prowein2025 #cheersprowein #prowein #proweintradefair #winebusiness #wineprofessionals #winetasting #wineshop #winetrends #tradefair #winetrade #winecommunity #winetradefair #overseas #international #internationalexhibitors #exhibitors

What a week it has been! A week full of #learning, #validation, and #gratitude! Here’s what went down: ✅ This week was incredibly validating as I got to talk to so many different stakeholders. Pratik and I met with Eddie at While in Kathmandu to discuss the future potential of our existing #partnership. I also chatted with a few producers and farmer partners to understand how much value we are creating for them and spoke with #investors who have seen our work firsthand. Knowing that we’ve been able to create value across all spectrums of #stakeholders makes everything so much more meaningful. ✅ We also had our #allhands meeting today, which was an amazing sight to see. Every month, we’re greeted by a new team member, and it feels incredible to be growing at this pace. We’re always trying to bring something new to our all-hands meetings, and it was humbling to see each #teamleads passing the baton to other team members for updates. Small gestures go a long way! ✅ We completed our European Speciality Tea Association (European Tea Society) quarterly #boardmeeting this week, which was super energetic. There are many changes happening at the operational level, and we are excited to be opening doors to many new members at ESTA soon. If you are in the tea industry and not a member of ESTA, you might be missing out. Send a DM to David Veal, our executive director, to know more about #ESTA and join if interested. ✅ We also hosted an #inperson tea tasting event at BlackRock this week, which went really well. It turned into a mix of mindfulness and team-building activity. Kudos to Jing Yang for making it happen and Ashwin Joshi, CFA for the connection. ✅ An article about our #teatourism was published in World Tea Expo #News this week, highlighting a few of our amazing partners and friends in tea (Annabel Kalmar from Tea Rebellion, Raj Vable from Young Mountain Tea, Jeff Fuchs and Dan Robertson)and how tea tourism is on the rise. Here's the link to read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eDQN5bCq ⛰ We are gearing up to take around 35 people next year for 2025 and have quite a few seats filled already. If you’re interested, send me a DM. Have a great weekend, everyone and happy #independence day! #july4th

Have your Say on the Victorian Wine strategy particularly as it relates to First Peoples participation in the sector from business and entrepreneurial opportunities, to employment, to caring for Country and tourism related activities. 🇪🇺 The European wine industry is facing significant challenges, from declining consumption to the impacts of climate change. 📢 “Over the past two decades, the EU wine sector has been a success story. Framed by a comprehensive regulatory system, the EU has been leading in the world, with exports that tripled in value over that period,” - Commission’s agriculture and rural-development department 📉 The recent data highlights the urgency: global wine consumption dropped by 2.6% last year, hitting the lowest levels since 1996. 💡 Despite this, the European Commission is taking proactive steps by calling for member states to join the High-Level Group on Wine Policy, the forum that aims to tackle these macro challenges and explore sustainable solutions. 🌱 In this context, CBE is excited to contribute to this mission through 🍷 WINE Project, by launching an innovative online course designed to train wine professionals aligned with the European Green Deal objectives, focusing on emerging environmental threats and the need to enhance cooperation and skills transfer. WINE aims to: 🍃 Raise Awareness and Knowledge: Educate participants on sustainable wine-making practices to ensure a greener future for the industry. 🤝 Harmonize Education and Training: Standardize skills and knowledge across Europe, making it easier for professionals to adapt to changing market and environmental conditions. 🌐 Promote Wine Tourism: Highlight sustainable wine tourism practices, supporting local economies and cultural heritage. 🇪🇺 Foster European Networking: Create strong connections between different organizations across Europe, promoting collaboration and innovation. 🔗 Don't miss out!
