Next week, I'm launching a new event series. I'm bringing together stakeholders from all levels of the freelance ecosystem to surface and solve the biggest issues facing independent work. We'll begin with a core question that all freelancers wrestle with: What makes a freelance business sustainable? Three special guests are joining me in leading this conversation: Maari Casey, Elina Jutelyte, and Anna Burgess Yang. Would you like to help us build the future of work?

Becoming a successful freelancer requires what I call The Three C’s: - Confidence - Courage - Communication It takes guts to go out on your own and create a business for yourself. Not everyone has that drive, nor the desire. If you really want to make a living through freelance work, you’re going to have to get really good at difficult conversations. Topics like money, boundaries, and expectations aren’t always easy to talk about, but your ability to withstand discomfort is what will eventually lead to your success.

We don’t know who needs to hear this, but you don’t always have to be hyper-focused on growing your business. There will be times when you’re excited about working on your business, innovating, putting yourself out there and thinking of little else. But there’s so much more to life, and there will be plenty of times when your freelance work takes a back seat and just ticks along whilst you prioritise other things. And that’s 100% okay! Are you in a business-focused phase right now, or are other aspects of your life front and centre? #LSPexpert

A great freelancer-client relationship is built on mutual respect. As freelancers, here’s how we can do our part: 🔹 Be clear on deliverables and timelines. 🔹 Stay responsive and don’t leave them guessing. 🔹 Always strive to add value (even beyond the brief). But let’s also normalise walking away when: ❌ The client delays payments or doesn’t make them at all. ❌ Communication breaks down. ❌ You feel undervalued. Respect is a two-way street. Work with people who appreciate what you bring to the table. #FreelanceLife #ClientRelationships #ContentMarketing

Is it just me, or is India currently experiencing the surface of the sun? Freelancers, ASSEMBLE! This weather is hotter than a client chasing a missed deadline. But hey, at least us freelance wordsmiths get to churn out content from the comfort of our air-conditioned (or let's be honest, strategically placed fan) fortresses. No office commute melting your flip-flops here! Who needs a suit jacket when you've got pajamas that double as productivity pants? So tell me, fellow freelancers, what are your best tips for staying cool and productive during this fiery furnace of a season? Let's share the air-conditioning secrets and iced coffee hacks in the comments! P.S. Don't forget to hydrate! Dehydration is a creativity killer, and nobody wants writer's block on top of heatstroke.
