People always think about the importance of inclusive parks for children, but what about parents? Imagine not being able to push your child on the swings, because that's the reality for a lot of parents who are in wheelchairs or have conditions like dwarfism. They might want to take their child to the park but they can’t reach to put them in the swing seat. A key aspect of any play park environment are the guardians, carers and parents that take children there to play! So they shouldn’t be excluded from being able to do that. That’s where inclusive parks come in. Because all parents and guardians should always have a local space they can take their children for play, fresh air, and exercise. Inclusive parks have those additional accommodations in place, lower swing sets, hand-rails, wheelchair spaces on roundabouts. Inclusive parks benefit parents and children by ensuring that all guardians, regardless of their abilities, can actively participate in their child's playtime.
