Small modular reactor trend… To meet the crazy power demand of AI Factory.
Oracle permitted data center to be powered by 3 small modular reactors. The cloud services giant currently has 162 data centers, live and under construction worldwide. The largest of these is 800 megawatts, and Oracle will soon begin construction of data centers that are more than a gigawatt. Ellison said the electricity demand driven by artificial intelligence and data centers has become so “crazy,” the company is turning toward next-generation nuclear power. Building permits for the three SMRs have already been secured, Ellison said on Oracle’s 2025 Q1 earnings call. Oracle’s founder did not elaborate on the location for the data center or any construction timelines. Power Engineering has reached out to the company for more details and will report back when we learn more. https://lnkd.in/gbUkjXWK

Just give you a heads-up. Better if it was fusion-powered. Fission is on its way to becoming redundant faster because it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and only an interim industry in the world. There is a shortage of fissile fuel. If you're interested in nuclear energy, opt for the cleaner and safer option of nuclear fusion. Fusion offers more energy security and sovereign security than fission and the development of more jobs, newer careers and industries in the Nuclear fusion industry. As the shortage of fission fuel becomes real, they resort to trebling fission. Then, in the renewables, grid-attached variable hydrogen power generation with batteries and fusion as a total system solution of power generation for the whole world and not just 39 rich countries. Without weaponisation, pollution of our waterways and the need to bury waste have been and will continue to be dangerous for thousands of years. What a waste of time you are here. Fission fuel. It is going to get tight in 100 or 80 years. Which Nuclear Fission or Fusion for our future. https://lnkd.in/g36Z4k6P
OUT OF THIS WORLD? Ultra Safe Nuclear is developing Pylon—a 1-megawatt, 10-ton-class microreactor that can generate electrical and thermal power on earth and in space! Pylon is a compact high-temperature gas cooled reactor that uses helium to transport heat away from its robust TRISO fuel. The microreactor’s low mass and volume makes it easily transportable to remote locations or for off-planet bases, satellites, and electric propulsion engines. Ultra Safe Nuclear is one of three companies selected to design experiments to potentially test its microreactor designs at our DOME testbed at Idaho National Laboratory. The front-end engineering and experiment design process supports developers in planning for the design, fabrication, construction, and testing of fueled reactor experiments. Testing in DOME could start as early as 2026 and is being led by our National Reactor Innovation Center | NRIC. Learn more: https://bit.ly/48zw3h5 📸: Ultra Safe Nuclear

Best invest in Building Fusion power, space, and maritime propulsion systems and industry, You talk about Nuclear (meaning Fission) and fail to discuss fusion. https://lnkd.in/ge_aeX7M The nuclear fission industry is, ignorant of what's happening around you. Pull your uranium heads out, start adjusting your industry to fusion energy and start preparing to enter the commercially growing fusion energy industry. As it dawns on Earth like the sun. Great Headline Guardian on Nuclear fission. https://lnkd.in/g8sMZtpR Fission is moving towards obsolescence at an accelerated pace, as it is "out of step, out of time, out of place," and merely a temporary industry globally. https://lnkd.in/gbd_mZqk Commercial fusion electrical generation is a promising innovative sustainable and clean energy method. By 2028, Helion is expected to start producing electricity from its first fusion commercial power plant, which will provide electricity to Microsoft. The plant will produce at least 50 MWe after an initial ramp-up period. https://lnkd.in/gY9J3MQY Now see what is happening in the Fusion industry in the world. https://lnkd.in/g9hMBD7a As fission trebles, fuel shortage is increasingly real, read below. https://lnkd.in/gze5rwpr
In a World starving for access to reliable affordable power, volumetric power density is of first order importance. Likewise, in a World with limited natural resources, selecting technologies with the highest power density will greatly reduce negative environmental impact by requiring less non-renewable construction materials per unit power produced. Clean Energy = High Power Density Weather dependent power generation technologies have 1,000 to 1,000,000 times lower power density than advanced nuclear. #nuclear #nuclearenergy #nuclearpower #powergeneration #oilandgas #oilandgasjobs #gridsecurity #gridstability #environmentalsustainability #environmentalimpact #sciencenews #scienceeducation #sciencecommunication #environmentalscience #abpoli #cdnpoli

Fascinating advancement in micro reactor technology. I still personally believe space explorations and activity would be best served by highly efficient thermionic electrical converters/generators; however this is an excellent idea especially for the interim or for large scale planetary operations.
