ATAF INTRODUCES NEWLY ELECTED COUNCIL MEMBERS: On 5 December 2024, the African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) elected a new Council to further its mission of improving tax governance and promoting sustainable development across Africa. South Africa was selected as the Chair, with Namibia as Vice Chair, and the Council includes Heads of Tax Administrations from Rwanda, Morocco, Uganda, Burundi, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, Mauritius, and Botswana. In his inaugural speech, Mr. Edward Kieswetter, Commissioner for South African Revenue Services (SARS), emphasized the Council's commitment to transparency, collaboration, and driving sustainable development. Outgoing Chair, Dr. Philippe Tchodie of Togo, expressed gratitude for his tenure and wished the new Council success. The Council will focus on enhancing regional cooperation and helping African nations mobilize resources for economic growth and essential public services.
