🌟 Celebrating One Year in the US! 🌟 Today, August 7th marks one year since I arrived in the United States as an international student. This journey has been full of surprises, challenges, and learning experiences. Coming from India to study for an MS in Computer Science at the University of Central Florida has been a transformative journey for me. There are many differences between the two countries, from how people greet each other to how they approach education. I was amazed at how much emphasis is placed on hands-on learning here. Back home, I focused a lot on theory, but at UCF, practical projects tested my skills. I've also learned the importance of networking. Back in India, I was more into studies and didn't see the value in attending events or joining clubs. Here, I’ve joined groups and attended career fairs, and tea-coffee meets with fellow graduates at UCF that have opened doors to new opportunities and friendships. It’s been a game-changer for me at least. Of course, there have been tough times too. Being away from family is hard, and sometimes I feel like I don’t quite fit in. But these experiences have taught me resilience and the value of being open to new experiences. Looking ahead, I'm excited about what the future holds. I'm eager to continue learning, growing, and making a positive impact with the skills and experiences I've gained here. To all the international students out there, let’s keep pushing forward and supporting each other. Every challenge is a chance to grow. Here's a photo of me a year ago with my family, third from the left." #InternationalStudent #OneYearInTheUS #MSCS #UCF #CulturalDifferences #LearningByDoing #Resilience

Oneonta Job Corps Academy celebrated Youth Apprenticeship Week in a big way! Twenty-three outside agencies came to campus for their May Workforce Outreach event. Students were able to show off their employability skills to employers and colleges. Using their Career Expo passports made the difficulty of approaching a stranger a bit easier (thank you, Ms. Erica Smith). OJCA students work on their skills inside the classroom and workshop daily so it was great for them to have the opportunity to flex those employability muscles in real time! After the event, Job Corps staff were able to have an employer debrief and receive extremely valuable feedback. Having these partnerships is crucial to the integrity of Job Corps training. We truly appreciate the time and attention of our employer partners as these events are a vital part of the Job Corps experience. #jobcorps #CareersBeginHere #JobCorpsJourney #thenationaljobcorpsassociation #studentsuccess #communityengagement #workforcedevelopment #employerpartners #CareerFair #apprenticeship #nationalyouthapprenticeshipweek

#creativeCoding #MieFellows #DBE002 #SADTU #SACE9 #GETSUMMIT My advice to the organizers of the 16th June Youth Day commemoration. It's crucial to empower youths and equip them with skills to address unemployment. A dedicated national celebration on June 16th could be a powerful platform to achieve this. Instead of simply focusing on long speeches and entertainment, the government could transform this day into a "Skills for Success" initiative. By utilizing public spaces like stadiums, communities could host workshops, seminars, and training programs that directly address skills gaps and empower youth with the knowledge they need to enter the workforce. This initiative could include: Career fairs: Connecting youth with employers and providing valuable networking opportunities. Mentorship programs: Pairing experienced professionals with young people to provide guidance and support. Skills development workshops: Teaching practical skills in fields like coding, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and more. This approach would not only provide valuable resources to young people but also contribute to a more robust and skilled workforce. We can leverage this day to create a positive impact and foster a brighter future for our youth. That's my advice
