122,000 people find themselves in modern day slavery across the UK. It’s a shocking number of hidden stories; so how can we wake people up to the reality, and help them spot the signs?   Today, on International Day for the Abolition of Slavery, we’ve launched the ‘Unfair Jobs Fair’ campaign for Migrant Help, exposing the alarming presence of modern slavery that’s hiding in plain sight across the UK.   We set up a booth in a careers fair that seemed completely ordinary: ‘Lockedin Recruitment’. We showcased job roles that looked, at first glance, entirely legitimate. Delegates wandered in, explored the booths, and engaged with what they believed were promising roles. We even set up a LinkedIn page for the fake recruitment company: https://lnkd.in/eSWYeKBT   But, as the public delved deeper, they slowly uncovered a darker truth: these “jobs” weren’t in fact jobs at all, but the awful real-life experiences of people who were once trapped in modern slavery.
