It's easy as an engineer to fall into the trap of "next-bench" design, where we create something designed for the person sitting one bench across, i.e., another engineer. But nine times out of ten, that's not the final user – it'll be a person out there in the real world, likely with different capabilities, opportunities and motivations to me, and that's where Behavioural Science comes in.
It's always fascinating to me to work alongside our behavioural scientists, here at Innovia, and to learn more about the way they see the world, and the users we are ultimately designing for. My colleague, Dr Helena Rubinstein, has written an article (linked below) reflecting on how the discipline has developed over the past decade, and what's to come in the era of big data.
Please read and share!
It's been a decade since we created the behavioural science team at Innovia. There has been a lot of change and we have learned a lot.

These are my candid views on the development of behavioural science during this period and some thoughts about what is to come. It's a long read but I would love to hear your views
