Things are obviously pretty hard going for Paul. Here he certainly doesn’t deny that! In verse 23 he says that leaving the earth to be with Christ would be better for him! Are you familiar with this way of thinking? I am. But then He goes on to ask for prayer. He knows he needs it and he isn’t ashamed to ask for it. We too should take a leaf out of Paul's book. When you realise, and as soon as you realise you may need it, ask someone you trust to pray for you. The previous verse says that Paul rejoices and will continue to rejoice! He chooses to turn his thinking around. He chooses to rejoice and praise instead. He chooses to invite the Holy Spirit in and give God his attention instead. You can too. It's amazing what people "LIKE" and what they are willing to put their approval upon. "People have grown calloused to Wisdom. They would rather entertain themselves with the opinions and teachings of man. They want the luxuries of this world instead of the blessings that come with righteousness. They put more likes on the pursuit of a perfect body, thriving business, or a luxury vacation than than they do on Wisdom. Watch carefully. Learn the pattern of this world so you can help point them to The Kingdom of God. The enemy has dulled their spiritual senses. They think they are 'safe' from judgment because they go to church, and yet they continue to follow their own sinful ways.
