🌍 ✨ Empowering young adolescents to advocate for, and take action on the SDGs by the United Nations is essential for fostering a sustainable, equitable, and prosperous future. It ensures that the next generation is prepared, motivated, and equipped to continue the work towards achieving these global goals. With the opportunity afforded me through my participation in the SDG Advocacy Programme by UN SDSN Youth - Nigeria and SDSN Youth by extension, I explicitly taught the key components of the 2030 agenda to these young change makers of Anglican Comprehensive Secondary School, Kubwa, Abuja Nigeria. The key components of the 2030 agenda being: 1. People 👫 End poverty and hunger in all forms, ensuring that all human beings can fulfill their potential in dignity and equality and in a healthy environment. 2. Planet 🌎 Protect the planet from degradation through sustainable consumption and production, managing natural resources, and taking urgent action on climate change to support the needs of present and future generations. 3. Prosperity 💰 Ensuring that all people can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social, and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature. 4. Peace ☮️ Promote peaceful, just, and inclusive societies free from fear and violence. As there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development. 5. Partnership ♾️ Global partnership for sustainable development, based on a spirit of strengthened global solidarity, focused on the needs of the poorest and most vulnerable, and with the participation of all countries, stakeholders, and people. These young change makers also took a pledge to promote and educate others around them about the SDG goals. With so much to look forward to, and as we approach 2030, I commit to helping young individuals interested in making active contributions to the attainment of the global goals, understand the dynamics and core principles, while also helping them find their place as they engage. ✨🤍🌍 #sdggoals #2030agenda #nopoverty #zerohunger #genderequality #reducedinequalities #goodhealthandwellbeing #climateaction

#SocialNormsConference2024, #COP29 On behalf of our team at the African Center for Youth Development, Education and Advocacy Initiative I had the privilege of engaging with UNICEF Nigeria on their insightful presentation by Harold Kpojime PhD "From Content to the Community: The Nigerian Learning Passport and Its Role in Cultivating Educational Equity." The conversation centred around the theme "From Research to Reality: Sociobehavioral Solutions for Accelerated Human Capital Development," highlighted critical approaches in bridging the gap between research, policy, and impactful action in education. As a regional youth-led frontier championing quality education across Africa, we are committed to driving solutions that tackle the challenges facing our continent's education systems. The continued impact of UNICEF Nigeria is a testament to a shared vision: to ensure that no child is left behind, and that education becomes a catalyst for social and economic progress for all. Looking forward to further collaborations as we work together to make educational equity a reality across Africa. #SocialNorms2024 #EducationForAll #HumanCapitalDevelopment #YouthInEducation #UNICEF #Nigeria #AfricanEducation

Own A-School Project: SDG AP cohort5 The SDGs Advocacy Program is a training that will help Nigerians to deepen their understanding of the United Nations & Sustainable Development Goals that will represent the project and lead transformative change in our communities and Nigeria as a whole. These goals also known as the global goals is a succession of Millennium Development Goals (MDG) that took effect from January 2016 after its adoption by the UN General Assembly during the UN Sustainable Summit in September 2015 at New York City, the USA. The major call for the 17 goals is to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure good health, prosperity and justice for all by 2030. In fulfillment of the SDG Advocacy program of the UN SDSN Youth - Nigeria I engaged and educated the students and teachers of Busy Brain international on the importance and relevance of sustainable development goals. It was a one day impactful yet interesting session with these students as they also committed themselves to not just learning about the goals but also being advocates for them. The younger generation have the voices, the abilities and the dreams, therefore we should leave no one behind in achieving this purpose as it Is the responsibility of everyone both young and old to key into action towards achieving this 17 SDGs goal for a resilient community and a better world. #sdsn #sdgs #globalgoals #sdgprogramme #unitednations

✨ Spotlight Series: Finalist 6 - Nigeria✨ Nigerian National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security (NNAPYPS) (2021) The Nigerian National Action Plan on Youth, Peace, and Security (NNAPYPS) was developed in response to UN Security Council Resolution 2250, making Nigeria the first African country and second globally to adopt such a policy. It seeks to engage youth in peacebuilding and conflict prevention, focusing on vulnerabilities like unemployment and empowering young people as peacebuilders. Despite contextual challenges, NNAPYPS shows great potential and has already improved youth engagement and representation, with incremental replication at the state level. Emerging from a youth-driven grassroots movement, NNAPYPS is a significant achievement in peacebuilding, though still in its early stages, with the pilot phase nearing completion. ✨ Key Features: Leadership Example: Nigeria became the first African nation and second globally to implement UNSCR 2250, setting a precedent. Youth-Driven Process: Youth and civil society led the NNAPYPS development, mobilising support and engaging top officials to secure national commitment and ensure young people’s involvement in the plan’s creation. Intergenerational Governance and Youth Inclusion: The Nigeria Coalition for Youth Peace and Security co-chair model includes government, civil society, and youth, ensuring inclusive decision-making, fostering mutual learning, and reshaping governance narratives; replicated at state levels. Today marks a significant milestone in my advocacy journey, and I'm thrilled to be part of the SDGs Cohort 5 Advocate Programme, sponsored by Sustainable Development Solution Network (SDSN) in collaboration with Nigeria Youth SDGs Network. Education is not just a personal achievement but a powerful tool for creating a better world. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity for all. As an SDGs Cohort 5 graduate, I've been empowered with the knowledge, skills, and passion to contribute to this global effort. The SDGs are not just a list of goals; they're a blueprint for a sustainable future. They remind us that our individual actions can collectively make a significant impact. Goal 4, Quality Education, has brought us together today. Let's consider the interconnectedness of all 17 goals. How can our skills and expertise contribute to: - Goal 1, No Poverty, by creating innovative solutions for economic growth and social inclusion? - Goal 6, Clean Water and Sanitation, by developing sustainable infrastructure and technologies? - Goal 13, Climate Action, by pioneering renewable energy sources and reducing carbon footprints? The possibilities are endless, and the world needs our creativity, critical thinking, and collaboration. It requires persistence, resilience, and a willingness to learn from failures. As Nelson Mandela said, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Today, I've acquired that weapon; I'm ready to use it wisely. Congratulations to my fellow advocates! Together, we can create a better tomorrow! Arogbonlo Israel SDGs Advocate #SDGs #EducationForAll #Advocacy

💡On the sidelines of the High-Level Political Forum, Uganda National NGO Forum has today joined Forus and other actors for the launch of the SDG 16 report. The #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (SDGs) aim to create a world where everyone can thrive in an environment of freedom, dignity, and equal opportunity. Goal 16 – Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions – is crucial for achieving these aspirations. Without peace, justice, and effective governance, progress in eradicating poverty, providing quality education, and combating climate change remains unattainable. Despite numerous challenges such as rising conflicts and corruption, civil society organizations (CSOs) have emerged as a ray of light, promoting transparency, advocating for justice, and ensuring inclusivity. This report from Forus members worldwide provides detailed recommendations for accelerating the realization of SDG 16. Policymakers, government officials, CSOs, international development agencies, and human rights advocates will find a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, highlighting complex challenges and providing valuable recommendations for progress.
