Day 2 of the SBCCD Olympics was a blast at San Bernardino Valley College! 🎉 Everyone brought their A-game as we battled it out in a fierce Free-Throw Competition 🏀 and a wild Pull Cart Relay Race 🏁.
The energy was high with music, laughs, and some friendly rivalries between San Bernardino Valley College, Crafton Hills College, and DSO! 🎶
Big thanks to everyone who joined the fun and brought the community together once again.

Collegiate Recovery Programmes, or CRPs, are designed to support students and staff who strive for recovery from substance use, alcohol, or behavioural addictions, while achieving success in higher education.
CRPs create environments within existing campus cultures, and wellbeing programmes, where people in recovery feel safe, supported and valued. Research from the 150+ CRPs in the United States has found that CRPs contribute to both successful recovery from addiction, and improved academic outcomes when compared to the general student population.
While CRPs are often different from university to university, these predominantly peer-led programmes include features such as recovery-friendly events, spaces and accommodation, opportunities to challenge addiction-related stigma, and enhance the scope of existing student wellbeing and support services

A recent court ruling in North Carolina has allowed public high school athletes to profit from their name, image, and likeness (NIL). This decision applies to athletes in public schools across the state, giving them the ability to earn money through endorsements, sponsorships, and other NIL-related deals.
The ruling aligns with trends in college athletics, where NIL deals have become a common practice. North Carolina now joins other states that have already permitted high school athletes to take advantage of NIL opportunities. This change introduces a new dynamic to high school sports, impacting both student-athletes and schools as they navigate this evolving landscape.

An absolute pleasure.
The conversion was rich in solutions rather than a perspective of reactions.
Often we look to mitigate the impact of society on our young people. Rather than looking to remove any barriers that they may face.
It was great to get back to the core, with a group of individuals who which to use sport, not only as a mechanism for a professional avenue, but more to draw away the skills that sport teaches us.
Having played full time football and part time in non-league. Even being lucky enough to move onto the Conference. All whilst running a business.
Sport has taught me the following:
- hard work is not negotiable,
- just because you like something it doesn’t make the grind any easier,
- resilience is a must in any walk of life,
- team work is essential to build morale and culture,
- you must be willing to pick others up around you where they need a helping hand.
These are the same principles that I have applied to life and here at Bouncing Statistics whilst I wish for young people to learn these vital skills and values also.
Brilliant meeting Rackeem Reid yesterday discussing all things young people, the challenges they face and the power that sport has to level the playing field, and to hear about their brilliant work Bouncing Statistics.
Really thought-provoking conversation about being evidence-based in our approach and authentic in our direction as we look to put plans in place for our upcoming football and education programme Birmingham United for the 24/25 season.
Looking forward to working together to positively impact the lives of young people in our city.
