Scale Microgrids’ Post

Check out this Renewable Thermal Collaborative case study on our groundbreaking project for Amond World, a state-of-the-art, fully off-grid cold storage facility for the Central Valley's almond farmers! It's a great example of how microgrids enable companies to "BYOP" (Bring Your Own Power) in the face of years-long waits for grid connections or capacity upgrades - while simultaneously reducing costs and emissions.

We are pleased to announce the publication of our newest case study on the partnership between RTC Solutions Provider Scale Microgrids, a vertically-integrated distributed energy company, and Origo Cold Storage to build a microgrid at Amond World, a new 500,000 square foot refrigerated cold storage facility in the Madera Airport Industrial Park in California’s Central Valley. Scale Microgrids used a “microgrid-as-a-service” financing model to design, build, own, operate, and maintain the off-grid microgrid that provides the facility with electricity for refrigeration of almonds and other crops from local farmers. The microgrid includes a 1,200 kilowatt (kW) solar photovoltaic (PV) array, a 1,200 kW battery storage unit, and two 1,200 kW natural gas-powered dispatchable generators.
