Did You Know? 🌌 On March 17, 1958, Vanguard 1, the first solar-powered satellite, was launched into orbit. Not just a milestone in space exploration, it also holds the title as the oldest man-made object still circling our planet! Vanguard 1's legacy continues to inspire advancements in satellite technology today. While its batteries lasted just 20 days, its solar cells kept the satellite powered for seven years. Vanguard I stopped sending signals back to Earth in 1964, but since then, researchers have still used it to glean insight into how the sun, moon and Earth's atmosphere affect orbiting satellites. #SpaceExploration #Vanguard1 #TechHistory
