🔬 What is Catalytic Reforming? Catalytic reforming is a crucial refining process that converts low-octane naphtha into high-octane gasoline components. By utilizing catalysts, this process enhances the quality of fuels, making them more efficient and cleaner for modern engines. 🔧 Why It Matters: Enhanced Fuel Quality: Increases the octane rating of gasoline, improving engine performance and reducing knocking. Versatility: Produces valuable by-products like hydrogen, which can be used in other processes or for energy. Environmental Impact: Helps in producing cleaner fuels with reduced emissions, contributing to environmental sustainability. 🌍 Innovation at Its Best: With advancements in catalyst technology and process optimization, catalytic reforming is not just about refining but also about pushing the boundaries of what's possible in fuel production and sustainability. 🔍 Industry Implications: For professionals in the refining sector, staying updated on catalytic reforming technologies is key to leveraging new efficiencies and adhering to stricter environmental regulations. It's a dynamic field with continuous advancements that promise both technical and economic benefits. 🔗 Let's discuss how catalytic reforming is reshaping the future of fuel and energy. The German government is giving #chemicals giant BASF €310m to build the world’s largest industrial #heatpump. The Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action is funding the project at BASF’s Ludwigshafen site on the Baltic Sea. Markus Kamieth, BASF’s chair, said the pump would be the first of its kind to be used for steam generation. He said: “There are no comparable industrial pilot projects anywhere in the world. That’s why we are thrilled that the federal ministry is supporting our project and thus investing in new processes that play an important role in the development of #sustainable value chains in the #chemical industry.” The pump will use waste heat from a petrochemical works to create electricity, which will in turn be used to generate up to 500,000 tonnes of steam a year. Most of this steam will be used in chemical processes, for example to dry products, heat reactors and for distillation. In the past year, BASF used about 14 million tonnes of steam at Ludwigshafen. In total, the heat pump is expected to reduce greenhouse gas #emissions at the company’s headquarters by up to 100,000 metric tons a year. Uwe Liebelt, president of BASF in #Europe, commented: “Electrifying steam generation is a crucial step towards generating the #energy we so urgently need in the chemical industry in a more sustainable way.” The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027.

For your sustainable solutions to high-strength/ high-solid and oily wastewater, Thetis Environmental’s PermaFlux provides you the UF membranes options that allows for more efficient use of any chemical requirements and allow for huge energy savings. Their ability to manage high concentrate of suspended solids and emulsified oil and grease are a testament of strength of their revolutionary membrane chemistry. https://lnkd.in/gwD4tHm2
When treating high strength/high solid wastewater and wastewater with oil & grease, usually multiple process are treatment are required to reach the discharge parameters to ensure minimal impact to the environment. Often this will require chemical, biological treatment and a big footprint as well as high energy ultrafiltration application like tubular and ceramic. Thetis Permaflux revolutionary membrane chemistry and patented close loop design works at a fraction of the typical tubular energy requirements and have the robust durability to last for many years. Their simple operation requires minimal handling adding additional safety factor to the process. With its robust reliability, it ensures that with their UF type permeate they are one of your most sustainable UF solution option for very difficult to treat wastewater across almost all industries from oil & gas, plantations to automotives and semicon. By pairing PermaFlux with a free oil separator technology, virtually all oils in wastewater can be extracted and concentrated, leaving the end user with clean permeate for reuse or disposal. With the concern on the continuous environmental impact today and stricter regulatory requirements, it is a solution for your long-term operation and environmental investment. CF Industries hosted executives from several of our trade associations at the Donaldsonville, Louisiana Complex – the world’s largest and most flexible ammonia production facility, serving customers on every continent. It was a jam-packed day featuring a briefing from the site’s leadership team and a comprehensive tour of the complex. During the visit, we: - Emphasized our Do It Right culture and our unwavering focus on occupational and process safety. 👷🏼♂️ - Discussed how we engage with the local community, supporting early childhood education and the incorporation of STEM activities into the local schools, and other efforts. 🏫 - Explained how we make ammonia and upgraded products at this highly efficient facility; logistics specialists discussed the site’s world-class distribution capabilities and how we ship product via ammonia pipeline, rail, truck, barge, and deep water vessel. 🚂🚢 - Provided an update on developments with CF’s clean energy strategy, which included a tour of North America’s first commercial scale green ammonia facility (soon to be operational) and the site of our carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project, which will sequester up to two million tons of CO2 per year upon completion (expected 2025). The low-carbon ammonia CF will soon be producing can be used in several clean energy applications and as a low-carbon fertilizer to help reduce global greenhouse gas emissions. 🌎🌱 CF actively engages with our associations to advance company and industry policy and sustainability priorities. Collaborating with these organizations supports our advocacy goals; helps us identify trends and issues relevant to the company; broadens our stakeholder engagements; and allows us to share critical expertise and industry best practices. Thanks to Ammonia Energy Association, Fertilizer Canada, Hydrogen Council, International Fertilizer Association (IFA), and The Fertilizer Institute for joining us this week! #ammonia #fertilizer #cleanenergy

EMS-GRIVORY Eco-friendly Products The primary objective of EMS-GRIVORY with GreenLine is to offer customers products based on renewable raw materials, having excellent properties and allowing a proven contribution towards reduction of environmental impact. From a technical point of view, GreenLine products are in no way inferior to crude-oil based polyamides. By using monomers obtained through chemical processes from the renewable raw material castor oil, the environmental impact of GreenLine products is significantly improved from a “cradle to gate” point of view compared to crude-oil based polyamides. The total emission of climate-damaging gases during the whole manufacturing process of the polymer and its precursors can be reduced by up to ¾ depending on the product.

ExxonMobil’s and Mississippi’s CF industries’ carbon capture and storage agreement has been created with the outline that the project will transport and permanently store an estimated 500,000 metric tons of CO2 every year. The emissions that will be captured and stored will come from CF Industries’ complex, which is based in Yazoo City, a place known for creating nitrogen products for agricultural fertiliser. The article below talks about a new carbon agreement which has been set up between two companies, which will significantly benefit both parties.
