SCC Arbitration Institute’s Post

✨ Meet our Secretary General, Caroline Falconer! ✨ What do you do for work? - Everything and nothing! As the Secretary General of the SCC, I truly have the best job in the world—I promise! I have the privilege of leading a top-notch team to deliver world-class dispute resolution services. My role is incredibly dynamic, from shaping the future of dispute resolution and tackling complex issues in ongoing arbitrations to engaging with both domestic and international business and arbitration communities. Only by fully understanding businesses’ needs can the SCC stay modern, innovative, and cost-efficient—and help businesses thrive. And thriving businesses are what we’re all about. Christmas is in a few days: What do you wish for Christmas? - My list is long, but near the top is seeing more than 216 cases initiated at the SCC this year. That would break our all-time record from 2009—and it’s (almost) within reach! What's something you didn't know about the SCC before you started working with us? - Before joining the SCC, I didn’t realize just how global its reach is. In Sweden, we know it as a trusted forum for Nordic as well as East-West disputes. But after joining, I was amazed to see the complete picture—cases involving parties from all corners of the world, even large-scale domestic disputes from countries far beyond Sweden. The SCC has a truly amazing position in the world. If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be? - Travel is part of my work, and I often imagine during my trips how different the world would be if we could teleport to where we need to go. Skipping flights and trains would be a dream (especially since I’ve learned the hard way that sleeping on trains is not my strong suit). I’m not sure teleportation counts as a skill, but—beam me up, Scotty!
