#bannister story On the morning of May 6, 1954 , Roger Bannister's broke the records of running a 4-minute mile barrier which was widespread believed that it is not attainable. the entire running fraternity, physiologist , doctors believed that human body cannot achieve and in doing so, body will make tremendous harm to body. Roger a doctor by profession refused to accept the status quo and ran a mile in under four minutes — 3:59.4 on 6th May Few takeaway from his inspiring run: 1. Bannister did not let the naysayers and "experts" who claimed the 4-minute mile was unattainable deter him. He remained steadfast in his belief that it was possible. 🙅♂️ 2. Even when he faced setbacks and injuries during his training, Bannister persevered and used the pain and "humiliation" to push himself further. His resilience and refusal to give up were crucial to his success. 💪 3. After Bannister broke the record, his achievement had a profound "ripple effect." Within just three years, over 16 other runners had also broken the 4-minute mile barrier. Bannister had not only accomplished the feat himself, but had also inspired and empowered others to redefine the limits of human potential. 🏃♂️💨 Bannister's story demonstrates the transformative power of self-belief. 🙌 By challenging the prevailing narrative and refusing to be constrained by conventional wisdom, he was able to achieve the seemingly impossible and paved the way for others to follow in his footsteps. His legacy continues to inspire people to dream big and push the boundaries of what they believe is possible. 🌟 Let's recall his achievement on 6 may , when he accomplished the feat. #inspiration #motivation #4minutemile #procurement #contracts #scm #supplychain #negotiation #contract #cips #pmp #pmi

If you’re part of the construction industry in Newfoundland and Labrador, joining a board like the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association (NLCA) is more than just a seat at the table—it’s a platform to drive meaningful change. As someone actively involved in this sector, I’ve seen firsthand how board participation fosters collaboration, strengthens our industry, and provides invaluable networking opportunities. Here’s the thing: construction is about more than bricks and mortar. It’s about shaping communities and building a sustainable future. By joining the board, you can influence policies, share innovative ideas, and ensure our industry remains competitive and forward-thinking. You’ll also gain access to industry insights and the collective wisdom of other professionals who are just as passionate about the growth of Newfoundland and Labrador as you are. Whether you’re a seasoned leader or an emerging professional, board participation helps you grow, both personally and professionally. It’s a chance to give back to the industry, advocate for the people who drive it, and make a lasting impact. Let’s work together to build not just structures but a stronger, more resilient industry. Consider getting involved—you won’t regret it! -Derek

Have you ever wondered what you should say if you have been selected to receive an award, the experts say the following: 1. Express your gratitude and be genuine. Speak from the heart and remember to acknowledge the sponsoring organization as well as any other nominees. 2. Demonstrate why you are deserving of the honor. Keep the self-deprecation to a minimum; don't make them regret selecting you over others. 3. Recognize those who helped you achieve success. Use your moment in the spotlight to pay it forward. Personalize your speech with anecdotes. This is still a speech, after all, so make it memorable and meaningful. 4. Respect the audience and the clock. Not every awards ceremony has an orchestra to play you off the stage when you overstay your welcome.
